The 2011 Campeonato Ecuatoriano de Fútbol de la Serie A (known as the 2011 Copa Credife Serie A for sponsorship reasons) was the 53rd season of the Serie A, Ecuador's premier football league. The season began on January 30 and ended on December 18, with a break in July for the 2011 Copa América. LDU Quito is the defending champion. The Liga Pro Betcris, simply known as the Liga Pro, or the Serie A, is a professional football league in Ecuador. At the top of the Ecuadorian football league system, it is the country's premier football competition. Contested by sixteen clubs, it operates a system of promotion and relegation with the Serie B, the lower level of the Primera Categoría. The season runs from February to December and is usually contested in multiple stages. The main sponsor is Betcris and it is known as Liga Pro Betcris. While initially not a league, the Serie A has its roots in the national championship between the top teams of Ecuador's two regional leagues. Centro Deportivo Olmedo
Club Centro Deportivo Olmedo is an Ecuadorian professional football club based in Riobamba, Ecuador. They play in the Serie B. The club won their only national championship in 2000. Their achievement made them the first club outside Quito and Guayaquil to win a national championship. They have also won two Serie B titles in 1994 and 2003. Internationally, they have played in the Copa Libertadores four times, reaching the Round of 16 once in 2002. Founded in 1919, Olmedo is one of the oldest clubs in the Serie A or Serie B. Club Deportivo Cuenca is an Ecuadorian football club based in Cuenca. They currently play in the Serie A, the top-flight football league in the country, and is one of two clubs from Cuenca to have played in the top-flight (the other being LDU Cuenca). Historically an undistinguished club in Ecuador, they have had a recent string of success in Serie A. The Ecuadorian Football Federation ( es, Federación Ecuatoriana de Fútbol or ) is the governing body of football in Ecuador. Its headquarters are in Quito, and it organizes the country's various football competitions and oversees the Ecuador national team.
