2011 Australian Football International Cup
The 2011 Australian Football International Cup (or IC21) is the fourth edition of the Australian Football International Cup, an international Australian rules football competition run by the Australian Football League. It was contested between 12 and 27 August 2011 by 18 nations, with games played in both Melbourne and Sydney. Two matches were played as curtain raisers to AFL premiership matches, USA vs South Africa at Stadium Australia and the IC Grand Final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Ireland won its second men's championship, and the inaugural women's championship (Ryan Aslett Cup). Australian Football International Cup
The Australian Football International Cup (also known as the AFL International Cup or simply the IC) is a triennial international Australian rules football sport competition. It is the biggest worldwide tournament in the sport and is open to all nations (except for Australia due to the presence of the professional AFL competition and an abundance of semi-professional leagues). More than 26 nations have participated and the competition has expanded into multiple pools and both men and women's divisions. The most recent event 2020 was postponed and then cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequently postponed until 2024. Great Britain National Australian Rules Football Team
The Great Britain men's national Australian rules football team is known as the Great Britain Bulldogs. The team is made up of the best British born players selected from clubs of in England, Wales and Scotland, and occasional appearances from British players playing for clubs in Australia. In AFL Europe, separate national teams represent England, Wales and Scotland. As well as regular international friendlies, the team has played in every Australian Football International Cup since its inception in 2002. Australian Rules Football In Papua New Guinea
Australian rules football in Papua New Guinea (PNG) (typically referred to as "Rules", "Rules football", or less commonly "Aussie Rules", "AFL rules", "AFL", or "football") is a developing team sport which was initially introduced by Australian servicemen during World War II. The governing body for the sport is the PNG Rules Football Council, with the development body being AFL PNG. The junior development version is known locally as Niukick. Regionally, AFL PNG is affiliated with AFL Oceania. The Women's Australian Football League (also known as USAFLW) is a women's Australian rules football competition in the United States of America. The league is the organising body for women's Australian rules football in the US It operates under the United States Australian Football League USAFL, the sport's governing body in the country. Australian Rules Football In The Middle East
Australian rules football in the Middle East describes the minority sport of Australian rules football as it is watched and played in the Middle East region. The sport is played at various levels, mainly by expatriate Australians. The main cup competition played in the area is the Dubai 9s, although a regional league under the name AFL Middle East which commenced in October 2008, with the inaugural 2008/09 premiers being the Dubai Heat. The AFLME initially featured six clubs, three in Dubai and one each from Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Oman, Muscat and Doha. Australian football is not known as a spectator sport in the Middle East. The Japanese national Australian rules football team ( ja, 日本のオーストラリアンフットボールチーム, Nihon no ōsutorarianfuttobōruchīmu), nicknamed the Samurai ( ja, 侍, Samurai), represent Japan in Australian rules football.
