2011 Atlantic Sun Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2011 Atlantic Sun men's basketball tournament was the 33rd edition of the Atlantic Sun Conference (A-Sun)'s Men's Basketball Tournament. It took place from March 2–5, 2011 at the University Center on the campus of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. The Belmont University Bruins won the tournament, defeating the University of North Florida Ospreys 87-46 in the final. Format The top eight eligible men's basketball teams in the Atlantic Sun Conference received a berth in the conference tournament. After the 20-game conference season, teams are seeded by conference record. Florida Gulf Coast University and the University of South Carolina Upstate were not eligible to compete due to NCAA reclassification. Bracket Asterisk denotes game ended in overtime. University Center (Mercer University)
The Hawkins Arena is the basketball arena on the campus of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, United States. The arena is located in the University Center, a large multi-purpose facility centrally located on the university campus. History The University Center opened in 2004. The $40 million, center, houses Mercer's athletics department, a 3,500-seat basketball arena, an indoor pool, work-out facilities, intramural basketball courts, offices, a food court, and numerous meeting facilities. 2010–11 Belmont Bruins Men's Basketball Team
The 2010–11 Belmont Bruins men's basketball team represented Belmont University during the 2010–11 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bruins, led by 25th year head coach Rick Byrd, played their home games at the Curb Event Center and are members of the Atlantic Sun Conference. They finished the season 30–5, 19–1 in A-Sun play to win the regular season conference championship. ASUN Men's Basketball Tournament
The ASUN Conference men's basketball tournament (formerly known as the Trans America Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament between 1979 and 2001) is the conference championship tournament in basketball for the ASUN Conference, formerly known as the Trans America Athletic Conference (TAAC) and Atlantic Sun Conference. The tournament has been held every year since 1979, except for 1992–93. It is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. The Mercer Bears are the athletic teams of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, United States. Mercer is the only private university in Georgia with an NCAA Division I athletic program and fields teams in eight men's and nine women's sports.
