2011 12U Baseball World Championship
The 2011 12U Baseball World Championship was an under-12 international baseball tournament held from July 8 to July 17, 2011 in Taipei City, Taiwan. It was the first 12U Baseball World Championship ever and was won by the host, Chinese Taipei. Teams Fourteen teams accepted the invitation for the tournament. Originally, Zimbabwe would appear in Group B, but the team withdrew from the tournament on the opening day. Mercy Rule
A mercy rule, slaughter rule, knockout rule, or skunk rule ends a two-competitor sports competition earlier than the scheduled endpoint if one competitor has a very large and presumably insurmountable scoring lead over the other. U-12 Baseball World Cup
The U-12 Baseball World Cup is the under-12 baseball world championship sanctioned by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and its predecessor the International Baseball Federation (IBAF), and is the most elite and highest level of competition in its age category. The U-12 Baseball World Championship is scheduled to be held every two years and launched in 2011 in Taipei, Taiwan as the "12U Baseball World Championship". Unlike other youth international competitions like the Little League World Series, which involve local clubs, the U-12 Baseball World Cup is the only global event across baseball—and all of sport—to feature national teams in this age group (11 to 12 years-old).
