2010–11 Stockport County F.C. Season
The 2010–11 season was Stockport County's 100th season in the Football League, and 96th consecutively. However, they eventually finished 24th in Football League Two and were relegated to the Football Conference. The season began with the club being taken over by the ''2015 consortium'', following the club being in administration since April 2009. Following the takeover, Gary Ablett left the position of manager and was replaced by Paul Simpson. However, in January Simpson was sacked and was replaced on a part-time basis by assistant Peter Ward. Ward was unable to stop Stockport's slide down the league, and was himself replaced by Ray Mathias who had initially joined the club as a technical adviser to Ward. Stockport County F
Stockport is a town and Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, borough in Greater Manchester, England, south-east of Manchester, south-west of Ashton-under-Lyne and north of Macclesfield. The River Goyt and River Tame, Greater Manchester, Tame merge to create the River Mersey here. Most of the town is within the boundaries of the Historic counties of England, historic county of Cheshire, with the area north of the Mersey in the historic county of Lancashire. The National League (named Vanarama National League for sponsorship reasons) is an association football league in England consisting of three divisions, the National League, National League North, and National League South. It was called the "Alliance Premier League" from 1979 until 1986. Between 1986 and 2015, the league was known as the "Football Conference"." Most National League clubs are fully professional (only three are not in the 2022/23 lineup), while a growing number of National League North and National League South clubs are also professional. Wincham Park
Wincham Park is a football stadium in Wincham, a parish on the edge of Northwich, England. The home ground of Witton Albion, it first opened in 1989, after the club left their former Central Ground. Capacity is 4,813, with 600 covered seats on the north side of the stadium. The other three sides of the ground are all standing: the Lostock End, Wincham End, and Popular Side. Wincham Park has not changed much since its construction although cover was added at both ends of the stadium in 1990. The floodlights were replaced in 2010 after supporters walked to nearby Runcorn to raise the funds. The record attendance for a match at Wincham Park was when Northwich Victoria lost 2–0 to Shrewsbury Town on 1 January 2004 in The Football Conference. Sale Sharks is a professional rugby union club from Greater Manchester, England. They play in Premiership Rugby, England's top division of rugby. Originally founded in 1861 as Sale Football Club, now a distinct amateur club, they adopted the nickname Sharks in 1999. Since 2012 they have played their home games at the A.J. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football.
