2010–11 New Mexico Lobos Men's Basketball Team
The 2010–11 New Mexico Lobos men's basketball team represented the University of New Mexico as a member of the Mountain West Conference. The Lobos were coached by fourth-year head coach Steve Alford and played their home games at The Pit in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Lobos are 2–2 against ranked teams. Steve Alford
Stephen Todd Alford (born November 23, 1964) is an American men's college basketball coach and former professional player who is the head coach for the Nevada Wolf Pack of the Mountain West Conference (MWC). Born and raised in Indiana, he was a two-time consensus first-team All-American playing in college for the Indiana Hoosiers. He led them to a national championship in 1987. After playing professionally for four years in the National Basketball Association (NBA), he has been a college head coach for almost 30 years. Alford was named Indiana Mr. Basketball in high school before playing at Indiana University Bloomington under coach Bobby Knight. He helped the Hoosiers claim their fifth national championship, and finished his career as Indiana's all-time leading scorer. Phillip Michael McDonald (born July 25, 1989) is an American professional basketball player. He began his college career playing for the New Mexico Lobos men's basketball team. Born in Cypress, Texas, McDonald was the starting shooting guard for the Lobos the first three years he has played, and provided experience and depth off the bench for the Lobos his senior year. High school McDonald attended Cypress Springs High School in Cypress, Texas, and garnered a number of accolades during his four-year career. He played college basketball at New Mexico, where he was named First-team All- MWC in 2010 and 2011.
