2010–11 NBB Season
The 2010–11 NBB season was the third season of Novo Basquete Brasil, the Brazilian basketball league. It started on October 29, 2010, and was disputed by fourteen teams playing each other in round and runoff in the regular season. The NBB serves as a qualifying competition for international tournaments such as FIBA Americas League, Liga Sudamericana and Torneo InterLigas. As in the second edition, in the third edition of NBB, also named NBB 3, At the end of the regular season the first four teams qualify for the quarterfinals of the playoffs automatically now the team who finish between 5° and 12° positions will participate in the first round of the playoffs o define the other four teams in the quarterfinals. Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) (English: New Basketball Brazil) is the Brazilian premier professional men's basketball league. It is organized by the Liga Nacional de Basquete (LNB) (National Basketball League), in a new format of Brazil's previous top-tier level basketball competition, the Campeonato Brasileiro de Basquete (Brazilian Basketball Championship). The NBB is managed by the Brazilian basketball associations, which were founding members of the LNB. Format The NBB is the annual basketball league that is promoted by the national Brazilian league (LNB) organizing body, and is endorsed by the Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CFB). The first phase of the season consists of fifteen teams playing against each other, on a home and away basis. Then the top eight teams go to the playoffs, where the top ranked team plays against the one in the eighth place, the second from the top plays the seventh, and so on. Minas Tênis Clube, commonly known simply as Minas or the Minas Storm, is a Brazilian basketball club based in Belo Horizonte. It is part of the Minas Tênis Clube multi-sports club. Centro de Treinamento Arremessando para o Futuro, or simply Espírito Santo Basquetebol, is a Brazilian basketball team from Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, Brazil. History Espírito Santo was founded in 2000 as CETAF/Vila Velha, but it disputed its first Brazilian championship in 2008, and at the same moment the team from Vila Velha also disputed ''Nossa Liga de Basquete''. In 2009, they disputed the first edition of Novo Basquete Brasil, finished the regular in the tenth position and did not disputed the playoffs of that season.
