The 2010–11 Montreal Canadiens season was the franchise's 102nd overall season and its 94th since joining the National Hockey League (NHL). The Eastern Conference (french: Conférence de l'Est) is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Western Conference. History Originally named the Prince of Wales Conference, it was created in 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. Alex Auld
Alexander James Auld (born January 7, 1981) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. Auld played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers, Phoenix Coyotes, Boston Bruins, Ottawa Senators, Dallas Stars, New York Rangers and the Montreal Canadiens. He has also appeared internationally for Team Canada on three occasions: the 2001 World Junior Championships, the 2004 Spengler Cup, and the 2006 World Championships. Robert Mayer (born October 9, 1989) is a Czech-born Swiss professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently playing with Genève-Servette HC of the National League (NL). He first played professional with the Kloten Flyers of the NL before signing a three-year entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens in 2008. The Stanley Cup (french: La Coupe Stanley) is the championship trophy awarded annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) playoff champion.
