Rio Grande Valley Vipers
The Rio Grande Valley Vipers are an American professional basketball team of the NBA G League based in Edinburg, Texas, and are affiliated with the Houston Rockets. The Vipers play their home games at the Bert Ogden Arena. The Vipers have won four league titles in 2010, 2013, 2019, and 2022, the most for any club in league history, and they also have made the most championship series in league history, having made it six times to the finals. They are also the earliest champion to still play in their original city along with one of only two teams (the other being the Fort Wayne Mad Ants) to have played in every league season since 2007. Mitch Creek
Mitchell Creek (born 27 April 1992) is an Australian professional basketball player for the South East Melbourne Phoenix of the National Basketball League (NBL). He began his NBL career with the Adelaide 36ers in 2010 and spent eight seasons with the team, helping them reach two grand finals and win one minor premiership. In his final season with the 36ers, Creek earned All-NBL Second Team honours. During the eight-season duration, he had multiple off-season stints in the Australian state leagues. After a stint in Germany in 2018, he joined the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League. During the 2018–19 season, he had stints in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves. In 2019, he joined the South East Melbourne Phoenix. Eddie Shannon
Eddie Shannon (born January 29, 1977) is an American former professional basketball player. Shannon, a native of West Palm Beach in Florida, has played his entire career essentially with only one eye. At the age of 10 while playing with some of his seventh-grade friends, Eddie was unintentionally hit in the right eye with a rock, forever altering his vision. Following the accident, he underwent surgery to remove blood clots from his eye, and a year later, had a cataract removed. As an eighth-grader, his vision began to blur, and he could only see shadows. Even with limited vision, Eddie went on to star for Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach which led him to be recruited by the University of Florida (UF) where he became the Florida Gators starting Point guard and is among the schools all-time leaders in assists and steals.
