2010 WPS Dispersal Draft
The 2010 WPS Dispersal Draft was a special draft for Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) after the Los Angeles Sol withdrew from the league. Players from the team were dispersed to the remaining seven teams in the league via the draft. Background When the Los Angeles Sol folded on January 28, 2010 after a potential sale of the team fell through at the last minute, WPS, which had been running the team after AEG backed out, announced that the nineteen players under contract to the Sol would be dispersed to the remaining WPS teams in a dispersal draft, held on Thursday, February 4, 2010. Format The draft order for the first and third rounds is Atlanta, then Philadelphia, followed by the remaining six teams in the reverse order of finish from the 2009 season; draft order for the second round is the reverse of that. Women's Professional Soccer
Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) was the top-level professional women's soccer league in the United States. It began play on March 29, 2009. The league was composed of seven teams for its first two seasons and fielded six teams for the 2011 season, with continued plans for future expansion. The WPS was the highest level in the United States soccer pyramid for the women's game. On January 30, 2012, the league announced suspension of the 2012 season, citing several internal organization struggles as the primary cause. Some of these issues included an ongoing legal battle with magicJack owner Dan Borislow and the lack of resources invested into the league. On May 18, 2012, WPS announced the league folded and would not return in 2013. Brittany Bock
Brittany Christine Bock (born April 11, 1987) is an American soccer midfielder. Early life Bock was born in Naperville, Illinois and attended Neuqua Valley High School. In 2009, she was enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame, majoring in Marketing. Bock played for Windy City Pride from 2002 to 2004 under Ko Thanadabouth. Prior to that she played with Team Chicago Soccer Club under Hudson Fortune. In 2004 and 2005, she played for the Eclipse Select Soccer Club alongside future Notre Dame teammate Elise Weber. Kia Janeen McNeill (born May 15, 1986) is an American retired professional soccer defender who most recently played for the Boston Breakers in the NWSL. She previously played for the Saint Louis Athletica, Philadelphia Independence, and the Atlanta Beat in the WPS and was a member of the United States U-23 women's national soccer team. Early life McNeill was born and grew up in Avon, Connecticut and attended Avon High School. Pavlína Ščasná (born 3 April 1982) is a Czech former football striker who last played for Swedish champion LdB Malmö. Career She played four years in Sparta Prague before earning Bayern Munich attention. In her first season at Bayern she was the team's top scorer with 14 goals. At the age of 20 she moved to WUSA's Philadelphia Charge, becoming the first Czech player of women's football in the United States. The WUSA folded in September 2003, so Ščasná returned to Bayern. Kiara Michelle "Kiki" Bosio (born November 3, 1987) is an American former soccer player from Mission Viejo, California. She played as a forward for the Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) club FC Gold Pride and the United States women's national under-23 soccer team. Michelle Enyeart (born July 26, 1988) is an American soccer player from Hemet, California. She was a forward for the University of Portland women's soccer team and the United States U-20 women's national soccer team.
