2010 USA Sevens
The 2010 USA Sevens took place on February 13 and February 14 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was the fourth Cup trophy in the 2009–10 IRB Sevens World Series. It was the first edition of the USA Sevens to be held in the Las Vegas area; the tournament had been hosted by the Los Angeles suburb of Carson, California from 2004 to 2006, and by San Diego from 2007 to 2009. The USA Sevens is played annually as part of the IRB Sevens World Series for international rugby sevens. Samoa won the Cup final 33–12 over New Zealand. Samoa was led by Mikaele Pesamino, who scored 11 tries in the tournament, including two intercept tries against New Zealand in the final. The Plate went to defending series champion South Africa, the Bowl was won by the homestanding USA, and the Shield went to Scotland. Mikaele Pesamino
Mikaele Pesamino (born 2 April 1984) is a rugby union player in the Samoa Sevens team. He was the highest point scorer in the 2009–2010 IRB Sevens World Series helping his country in securing their first World Series crown and was awarded the 2010 IRB World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year. Early sporting career Pesamino was born in Vailele on the island of Upolu in Samoa. Pesamino was first discovered for his speed, when he represented Leifiifi College in the annual Champ of Chapms athletic competition. But ever since, he focused on his rugby career. Scotland National Rugby Sevens Team
The Scotland national rugby sevens team competes in the World Rugby Sevens Series, Rugby World Cup Sevens and the Commonwealth Games. The head coach is Ciaran Beattie, supported by manager Sean Lamont and skills coach Graham Shiel. During 2006, the side were in danger of no longer competing in the Sevens World Series due to the financial problems faced by the Scottish Rugby Union. However, they gained a reprieve when the International Rugby Board announced that a leg of the Sevens World Series would be held at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, starting in 2007. The SRU then announced that the Scotland sevens team would compete in all eight legs of the Sevens World Series, and draw players from the country's national academy. Ratu Emosi Vucago (born May 10, 1983) is a Fiji Rugby union player. He plays as a half-back in the Fifteens man-code and also as a halfback/fly-half in the Sevens code He has also been part Fiji Sevens team since the Wellington leg in 2007. Valenese Malifa (born 10 September 1985, in American Samoa) is an American rugby union former fly-half. He has now turned his career to professional coaching in the US for Major League Rugby. He assisted Atlanta’s team, Rugby ATL, from 2018-2020 and has since moved to Dallas to coach the Dallas Jackals in their inaugural year. Alafoti Fa'osiliva (born 28 October 1985) is a rugby union player for English club Worcester Warriors in the Aviva Premiership and in the national Samoa national rugby union team, Samoa team.
