2010 Swiss Open Super Series
The 2010 Swiss Open Super Series is a top level badminton competition which will be held from March 16, 2010 to March 21, 2010 in Basel, Switzerland. It is the fourth BWF Super Series competition on the 2010 BWF Super Series schedule. The total purse for the event is $200,000. St. Jakobshalle was host the competition. This was the 20th anniversary of the swiss Open tournament, since the tournament was held in St. Jakobshalle and entered the high-level World Badminton Grand Prix event in 1991. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. The shuttlecock is a feathered or (in informal matches) plastic projectile which flies differently from the balls used in many other sports. Dicky Palyama
Dicky Palyama (born March 26, 1978 in Gouda) is a male badminton player from the Netherlands. Early career After winning four junior titles in the Netherlands between 1994 and 1996, Dicky took the European junior U19 title in 1997. His first success as a professional came in 1998, when he took the Welsh Open International title. In 2000 he took his first National Dutch Championship; he has since won a record nine individual singles Dutch Championship titles. In 2002 he won the Spanish International Badminton Tournament and in 2003 the Bitburger Open International. 2007 European Cup As a part of the BC Amersfoort team with Lotte Bruil-Jonathans, Yao Jie, Larisa Griga, Chris Bruil and Eric Pang, Palyama reached the final of the European Cup 2007 in Amersfoort by defeating CB Rinconada in the semi-finals. Hsieh Yu-hsing
Hsieh Yu-hsing (; born July 23, 1983) is a men's singles and mixed doubles international badminton player from Chinese Taipei (Taiwan). Hsieh started to play badminton international championships since 2002. At the moment, Hsieh had become the men's singles No.1 international player in Taiwan, but he always being drawn to face more stronger players in the overseas countries tournament. In 2008, 2009, and 2010, he always knocked out in the second round and sometimes in the last eight in most tournament he attended. Christian Bösiger
Christian Bösiger (also spelled Boesiger, born 22 March 1984) is a Swiss male badminton player from Olten club. He competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the men's singles event, and reach the second round. Bösiger is a 12-time national champion. Eric Pang
Eric Pang (born 30 January 1982) is a Dutch badminton player, who became European Junior Champion in 2001. He won the National Dutch Championships seven times between 2009 and 2015. Career As a part of the BC Amersfoort team Pang reached the final of the European Cup 2007 held in Amersfoort. Together with Lotte Bruil-Jonathans, Yao Jie, Larisa Griga, Dicky Palyama and Chris Bruil. The final was lost against the team of NL Primorje. In the semi finals they were too strong for CB Rinconada. Eric Pang won the Norwegian International in 2005 and the Spanish Open in 2010. In 2012 Eric Pang won the Yonex Dutch Open Grand Prix beating his compatriot Dicky Palyama in the final with straight games. Joachim Persson
Joachim Persson (born 23 May 1983) is a badminton player from Denmark. Career Persson was born in Denmark but his family moved to Germany in his early years. He began to playing badminton in Trittau, Germany together with his parents. As German player, he helped the German team to win the mixed team title at the 2001 European Junior Championships, also won a silver medal in the singles event.
