2010 NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2010 NAIA Division I women's basketball tournament was the tournament held by the NAIA to determine the national champion of women's college basketball among its Division I members in the United States and Canada for the 2009–10 basketball season. Defending champions and hometown team Union (TN) defeated Azusa Pacific in the championship game, 73–65, to claim the Bulldogs' fifth NAIA national title. The tournament was played at the Oman Arena in Jackson, Tennessee from March 17–23, 2010. Qualification The tournament field remained fixed at thirty-two teams, which were sorted into four quadrants of eight teams each. Within each quadrant, teams were seeded sequentially from one to eight based on record and season performance. The tournament continued to utilize a simple single-elimination format. The Oman Arena (originally Jackson Coliseum) is a 5,600-seat multi-purpose arena, in Jackson, Tennessee, USA. The Trevecca Trojans are the athletic teams that represent Trevecca Nazarene University, located in Nashville, Tennessee, in intercollegiate sports at the Division II level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Lambuth Eagles
Lambuth University was a private Methodist university in Jackson, Tennessee. It was active from 1843 to 2011 and was supported by the Memphis Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. The university began as the Memphis Conference Female Institute in 1843 and was later renamed in honor of Walter Russell Lambuth (1854–1921), a Methodist missionary who traveled globally. After several years of financial struggles, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools opted not to renew Lambuth's accreditation in 2011.
