2010 Manitoba Municipal Elections
The Canadian province of Manitoba held municipal elections on October 27, 2010. Election day was on July 23, 2010 for several beach resorts including Winnipeg Beach, Dunnottar and Victoria Beach. Mayors, councillors, and school board trustees were elected. Bill 35, The Municipal Conflict of Interest and Campaign Financing Act, was passed on October 8, 2009. This created new rules for campaigns and financing. It extended campaign rules previously in force in Winnipeg to the rest of the province. It requires candidates to provide financial statements of contributions and expenses. It also bans corporate and union donations, and limits donations to Manitoba residents. Municipalities had the option to set their own bylaw regarding maximum expenses, and municipal rebate programs. Samuel Michael Katz (born August 20, 1951) is a Canadian businessman and former politician who was the 42nd mayor of Winnipeg, Manitoba from 2004 to 2014. The Canadian province of Manitoba held municipal elections on October 25, 2006. Brandon *Jeff Harwood is a teacher in Brandon. Lillian Thomas
Lillian Thomas (born 1949) was a city councillor in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada from 1989 until her retirement in 2010. She served on the council initially for Elmwood, and later for its successor ward of Elmwood-East Kildonan. Early life Thomas was born in Port Arthur, which is now part of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Russ Wyatt (born 1970) is a Canadian politician in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He represented Transcona on the Winnipeg City Council from 2002 to 2018, and is the incumbent. Anders Thomas Steen (born June 8, 1960) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey player and coach. Steen is the former city councillor for the Winnipeg ward of Elmwood-East Kildonan. Harvey Smith (Canadian Politician)
Harvey Smith (November 6, 1936 – March 12, 2017) was a Canadian politician who served on Winnipeg's city council and in the Manitoba Legislative Assembly. He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, grew up in Winnipeg and first became involved in politics at the age of twelve. He joined the British Columbia Social Credit Party when it was still a fringe organization. Smith obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and history from the University of British Columbia, a Bachelor of Education from Simon Fraser University and worked as a teacher in Birtle, Manitoba.
