2010 Maaco Bowl Las Vegas
The 2010 Maaco Bowl Las Vegas was an NCAA-sanctioned Division I FBS post-season college football bowl game. The game was played Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at 5 p.m. PST at 40,000-seat Sam Boyd Stadium near Las Vegas, broadcast on ESPN. The game featured Utah against Boise State. Teams Utah Utes Utah was one of the teams participating in the 2010 bowl. The Utes entered the game with the longest current bowl winning streak at nine games and had never lost a bowl game under current head coach Kyle Whittingham. Utah entered the game with a 10–2 overall record and a #19 ranking in the BCS poll. Sam Boyd Stadium
Sam Boyd Stadium (formerly the Las Vegas Silver Bowl) is a football stadium in the western United States, located in Whitney, Nevada, an unincorporated community in the Las Vegas Valley. It honors Sam Boyd (1910–1993), a major figure in the hotel and casino industry in Las Vegas. The stadium consisted of an uncovered horseshoe-shaped single-decked bowl, with temporary seating occasionally erected in the open north end zone. The artificial turf field had a conventional north–south orientation, at an elevation of above sea level. It was the home field of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Rebels for 49 seasons, from 1971 through 2019; they moved to the new Allegiant Stadium in 2020. 2006 Boise State Broncos Football Team
The 2006 Boise State Broncos football team represented Boise State University in the 2006 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Broncos won the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) championship with an undefeated 12–0 regular-season record (8–0 in the WAC), their second unbeaten regular season in the past three years. This was also Boise State's fifth consecutive season with at least a share of the WAC title, and the fourth in that period in which they went unbeaten in conference play. They became only the second team from outside the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) to play in a BCS bowl game when they faced Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, defeating the Sooners in a dramatic thriller. Austin Pettis
Austin Pettis (born February 8, 1989) is a former American football wide receiver. He was drafted in the third round, 78th overall, in the 2011 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams. Early years Pettis attended Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, California. He was part of the football team and had 72 receptions for 1,079 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior. He was named First-team All-league and All-county and Third-team All-state and was also named to the All-Southern Section Team while helping team to state championship. Tyler Shoemaker (born September 14, 1988) is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football for Boise State, Tyler was a four year stand out player stacking up 2031 yards receiving on 122 catches with 25 touchdowns in college. He was known as a deep threat with a 16.6 yard per catch average. Kyle Brotzman
Kyle Brotzman (born October 3, 1986) is an arena football placekicker who is currently a free agent. He has also been a member of the Utah Blaze, Jacksonville Sharks and Spokane Empire. College career He played for the Boise State Broncos. A former walk-on, he became the Broncos' starting kicker and punter. He garnered second-team All-WAC honors in 2007 and was Boise State's co-Special Teams Player of the Year in 2008. The 2010 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl game was a post-season college football bowl game between the #4 TCU Horned Frogs, champions of the Mountain West Conference, and the #6 Boise State Broncos, champions of the Western Athletic Conference. The game was played Monday, January 4, 2010, at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The game was part of the 2009–10 Bowl Championship Series (BCS) of the 2009 NCAA Division I FBS football season and was the concluding game of the season for both teams involved. The 2001 Las Vegas Bowl was the 10th edition of the annual college football bowl game. It featured the Utah Utes and the USC Trojans. Game summary The game was dominated by defense. Utah opened the scoring on a 3-yard touchdown run by Adam Tate, leading 7–0. They increased their lead to 10–0 in the second quarter, with a 26-yard field goal from Ryan Kaneshiro. The 1999 Las Vegas Bowl was the eighth edition of the annual college football bowl game. It featured the Fresno State Bulldogs and the Utah Utes. Game summary Fresno State scored first, when Utah placekicker Cletus Truhe had his field goal attempt blocked.
