2010 Ma'anshan Riot
The 2010 Ma'anshan riot (马鞍山局长打人事件) or the June 11 incident (6.11 事件) occurred in Anhui Province, Ma'anshan, Huashan District in the People's Republic of China on June 11, 2010. It started out when a Chinese Communist Party official hit a boy with his car followed by a number of angry responses. The city then rioted over the official's action. Anhui Province
Anhui , (; formerly romanized as Anhwei) is a landlocked province of the People's Republic of China, part of the East China region. Its provincial capital and largest city is Hefei. Ma'anshan
Ma'anshan (), also colloquially written as Maanshan, is a prefecture-level city in the eastern part of Anhui province in Eastern China. An industrial city stretching across the Yangtze River, Ma'anshan borders Hefei to the west, Wuhu to the southwest, and Nanjing to the east. It is a satellite city of the Nanjing metropolitan area and is also a city in the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone. As of the 2020 census, Ma'anshan was home to 2,159,930 inhabitants, of whom 1,253,960 lived in the built-up (or metro) area made of Huashan and Yushan urban districts and Dangtu County, which is largely urbanized.
