2010 Hong Kong Sevens
The 2010 Hong Kong Sevens is a rugby union sevens tournament, part of the 2009–10 IRB Sevens World Series. The competition was held from March 26–28 in at Hong Kong Stadium in Hong Kong and featured 24 teams. Samoa won its third consecutive Cup after defeating New Zealand in the final. With the victory, Samoa moved into first place in the World Series standings. Format Qualification for the various trophy brackets is as follows: *Cup and Plate — The six pool winners, plus the two top-rated second-place teams *Bowl — The four remaining second-place teams, plus the four top-rated third-place teams *Shield — The eight remaining teams The 2010 edition saw several significant changes to the tournament format. Kurt Baker
Kurt Baker (born 7 October 1988) is a New Zealand rugby union player, who currently plays as a fullback or wing for Old Glory DC in Major League Rugby (MLR). Between 2008 and 2022, Baker played for the New Zealand Sevens team in 233 World Rugby Sevens Series games and a total of 53 international tourments. In his rugby sevens career, he won 12 World Rugby Sevens Series tournaments, five World Rugby Sevens Series titles (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2020), two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games (2010, 2018), two gold medals and one silver medal at the Rugby World Cup Sevens (2013, 2018, 2022) and a silver medal at the Olympic Games (2020). Lolo Lui
Lolo Lui (born 4 January 1982) is a Samoan rugby union player. He captained the Samoa Sevens team which won the 2009–10 IRB Sevens World Series. Lui was born and raised in Moata'a, the same village as former All Blacks star Michael Jones and many other famous Samoan rugby players, such as Taufusi Salesa, Lolani Koko, and Alefaio Vaisuai. Lui first made an appearance in national colours in the National Under 18 World Rugby Championship held in Chile in 1999. He also represented Manu Samoa at the 2007 Rugby World Cup. 2010 London Sevens
The London Sevens (also known as England Sevens) was a rugby union sevens tournament, the seventh of eight Cup tournaments in the 2009–10 IRB Sevens World Series. The 2010 competition was held at Twickenham Stadium between 22 May and 23 May. Australia won the tournament with a 19–14 victory over South Africa in the final. South Africa had beaten Samoa in the semifinals, ending a three-tournament winning streak for the Samoans. New Zealand captured the Plate, Canada won the Bowl, and Kenya won the Shield. Format The tournament, as in all 16-team IRB Sevens events, consisted of four round-robin pools of four teams. All sixteen teams progressed to the knockout stage. 2010 Adelaide Sevens
The 2010 Adelaide Sevens, promoted as the International Rugby Sevens Adelaide 2010, was a rugby sevens tournament that was part of the IRB Sevens World Series in the 2009–10 season. It was the Australian Sevens leg of the series, held between 19 and 21 March at the Adelaide Oval in South Australia. Samoa picked up their second consecutive Cup win, following on from their victory in the USA Sevens. In a major surprise, their opponent in the final was the United States, who advanced to their first-ever Cup final. Samoa's 38–10 win enabled them to narrow the gap behind series leaders New Zealand to only 2 points. New Zealand, who were knocked out of the Cup competition by Samoa, gained the consolation prize of the Plate, defeating reigning series champions South Africa in the final. Nick Royle (born 1983) is a current England Rugby Sevens International rugby union player. He plays as a Rugby union positions#14. & 11. Wing, winger. He is currently playing 15-aside rugby for Caldy Rugby Football Club, Caldy in the RFU Championship (tier 2 of the English rugby union league system). As of 2018 he is the most prolific try scorer ever in National League 2 North with over 190 tries. James Rodwell
James Rodwell (born 23 August 1984) is an English professional rugby sevens player who was part of the national England national rugby sevens team, squad from 2008 to 2019. He ended his career with records as the Worlds most capped sevens player, having played in the most consecutive tournaments (69) and most tournaments (93) in the World Rugby Sevens Series. Rowan Varty (born 20 March 1986) is a British-born Hong Kong rugby union player. He plays for the Hong Kong Cricket Club in the HKRFU Premiership.
