2010 FINA Men's Water Polo World Cup
The 14th edition of the Men's FINA Water Polo World Cup was held in Oradea, Romania from July 27 to August 1, 2010. Format 8 teams qualified for the 2010 FINA World Cup. They were split into two groups of 4 teams. After playing a Round-robin every team advanced to the quarterfinals. The best ranked team of Group A played against the fourth ranked team of Group B, the second ranked team of Group A against the third ranked team of Group B the third ranked team of Group A against the second ranked team of Group B and the fourth ranked team of Group A against the best ranked team of Group B. The winners of those quarterfinals advanced to the Semis and played out the champion while the losers of the quarterfinals competed in placement matches. FINA Water Polo World Cup
The FINA Men's Water Polo World Cup is an international water polo tournament, organized by FINA and featuring eight men's national teams. It was established in 1979, initially taking place on odd years. Since 2002 it is held every four years, in the even-year between Olympics. From 2023 on, the tournament will be replacing the FINA Water Polo World League. Duško Pijetlović
Duško Pijetlović ( sr-cyr, Душко Пијетловић; 25 April 1985) is a Serbian water polo center forward for VK Novi Beograd. He was a member of the Serbia men's national water polo teams that won Olympic gold medals in 2016 and 2020, and bronze medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. He held the world title in 2009 and 2015 and the European title in 2006, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018. Pijetlović won three consecutive Euroleague titles with three teams: in 2011 with Partizan in 2012 with Pro Recco and in 2013 with Crvena Zvezda. Sandro Sukno
Sandro Sukno (born 30 June 1990) is a Croatian former professional water polo player. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed for the Croatia national team in the men's event winning the gold medal. He also won a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He last played for VK Jug. He currently works as an assistant coach of the senior men's Croatia national team. Sandro's father is Goran Sukno, water polo gold medalist for Yugoslavia at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Sandro was named Croatian water polo player of the year in 2014 and 2015, and best player in the 2014–15 Prva Liga. In December 2017, Sukno won the trophy for the best water polo player in the 2016–17 season. In 2017 he was named to the All-Star Team of the World Championships. 2011 World Aquatics Championships
The 14th FINA World Championships () were held on 16–31 July 2011 in Shanghai, China at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center. The 2011 World Championships featured five aquatics disciplines: swimming, water polo, diving, open water, and synchronized swimming. At this championships, synchronized swimmer Natalia Ishchenko, of Russia, was the most decorated competitor winning all six gold medals of her events, at solo, duet and team routines. These championships served as qualifying stages for the 2012 Summer Olympics. FINA announced Shanghai as the host on 24 March 2007, over other finalist Doha, Qatar. Dejan Udovičić
Dejan Udovičić ( sr-cyrl, Дејан Удовичић; born 26 July 1970) is a Serbian professional water polo head coach. He was named head coach for Serbia in June 2006, after the dissolution of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro. As a senior, he played for Partizan Belgrade and VK Beograd, while his coaching career started with Partizan where he stayed for nine seasons (2000-2009). His most notable achievement with the club was third place at the 2007 Euroleague Final Four in Milan. As the head coach of the Serbian national team, he has won gold medals at the 2009 World Aquatics Championships and the 2006 Men's European Water Polo Championship, as well as the 2012 Men's European Water Polo Championship. Gojko Pijetlović ( sr-cyr, Гојко Пијетловић; born 7 August 1983) is a Serbian water polo player who plays as goalkeeper for VK Novi Beograd and the Serbia men's national water polo team. Stefan Mitrović ( sr-cyr, Стефан Митровић; born 29 March 1988) is a Serbian water polo center back for Partizan. He was a member of the Serbia men's national water polo teams that won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics and gold medals in 2016 and 2020.
