European Fencing Championships
The European Fencing Championships is an annual top-level European fencing competition organized by the European Fencing Confederation. History The first competition bearing the name of "European Fencing Championships" was held in Paris in 1921. The International Fencing Federation (FIE) comprised only European federations at the time, with the exception of the United States. In 1936, on the 25th anniversary of the FIE and at the request of the Italian federation, the FIE congress decided to open the European Championships to all countries and granted retroactive recognition of the European Championships as World Championships. After 1937 the FIE focused on the organisation of the World Fencing Championships. Demand for European Championships appeared at the 1979 congress, but it was rejected on the ground that they would either belittle the World Championships or offer a poor fencing level. Noam Mills
Noam Mills ( he, נעם מילס; born May 27, 1986) is an Israeli fencer, who competed in the individual women's épée event for Israel at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She is a three-time junior Israeli champion in épée, and a four-time senior Israeli champion. In 2006, she was the No. 1 ranked female junior épée fencer in the world, and won the épée title at the Junior World Fencing Championships. Mills won the silver medal in épée representing Israel at the 2007 Summer Universiade. Competing for the Harvard's Women's Fencing Team, she came in second in the NCAA Championships three times, in 2008-11. Leszek Rajski (born 25 November 1983) is a Polish foil fencer, team silver medallist in the 2013 European Fencing Championships. Rajski joined the Poland senior foil team in 2010. That same year he won the Poland national championship. With Michał Majewski, Paweł Kawiecki, and Radosław Glonek, he reached the final of the 2013 European Fencing Championships in Zagreb, but Poland could not overcome Germany and came away with a silver medal. Ilaria Bianco (born 29 May 1980 in Pisa) is an Italian sabre fencer. Between 1999 and 2005, Bianco had won a total of five medals (one gold, three silver, and one bronze), as a member of the Italian team, at the World Fencing Championships. Elisa Di Francisca (; born 13 December 1982) is an Italian former foil fencer, Olympic champion in 2012, World champion in 2010 and three-time European champion.
