2010 European Curling Championships – Women's Tournament
The women's tournament of the 2010 European Curling Championships took place from December 4 – 11, 2010. Winners of the Group C tournament in Howwood, Scotland will move on to the Group B tournament in Monthey. The top 6 women's teams at the 2010 ECC (aside from defending world champion Germany and host country Denmark), will represent their respective nations at the 2011 Capital One World Women's Curling Championship in Esbjerg, Denmark. Champéry
Champéry (; frp, Champérié) is a municipality in the district of Monthey in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. History Champéry is first mentioned in 1286 as ''Champery'' The Hotel Dent-du-Midi opened in 1857. In 1969, Champéry became one of the founding villages of the Portes du Soleil ski area and resort. Geography Champéry has an area, , of . Of this area, 32.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 33.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 3.6% is settled (buildings or roads) and 30.3% is unproductive land. The municipality is located in the Monthey district, in the Val-d'Illiez, on the French border. Maria Poulsen
Maria Poulsen (born 29 October 1984) is a Danish curler. She currently plays lead for the Lene Nielsen rink. Poulsen was the lead on the Denise Dupont rink that finished 9th place at the 2001 World Junior Curling Championships. At the 2004 World Junior Curling Championships, the rink, now skipped by Madeleine Dupont finished 6th. They then finished 8th at the 2004 Ford World Women's Curling Championship and in 8th at the 2004 European Curling Championships. They then finished in 5th place at the 2005 World Junior Curling Championships, followed by a 10th-place finish at the 2005 World Women's Curling Championship. During the 2005–06 season, Poulsen was the alternate for the Dorthe Holm rink that won a bronze medal at the 2005 European Curling Championships and in 8th place at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Stella Heiß (born 15 January 1993 in Cologne) is a German curler from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. She played lead for Andrea Schöpp when she represented Germany at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Curling. Monika Wagner (born 28 February 1965 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, West Germany) is a German curler. She currently plays third for Andrea Schöpp, who was born eight hours before her in the same hospital. Wagner has played with Schöpp for most of her international career. She was her lead at the 1980 European Curling Championships where they won the bronze medal. Since then Wagner has been both Schöpp's second and third. Imogen Oona Lehmann (born 30 December 1989) is a Swiss-German curler. She is a member of the German national women's team. She is originally from Basel, Switzerland. Oona Lehmann played her junior career in her native Switzerland. In 2009, she placed third at the Swiss junior women's championship. The following year, she was a member of the national junior championship team. She played third for the Swiss junior team at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships. Andrea Schöpp (born 27 February 1965) is a German curler from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. She lectures part-time in statistics at the University of Munich. Career Schöpp is a two-time World champion ( and ), seven-time European champion (, , , , , , ) and 1992 Winter Olympics champion (demonstration). Schöpp has skipped every team she has played for in international events - except when she plays at the European Mixed Curling Championships, where she usually plays third for her brother, Rainer.
