2010 European Athletics Championships
The 2010 European Athletics Championships were the 20th edition of the European Athletics Championships, organised under the supervision of the European Athletic Association. They were held at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain from 27 July to 1 August 2010. Barcelona was the first Spanish city to host the European Championships. Barni was the mascot of the event, he was the main promotional tool of the Championship. His name comes from Barna and was designed by the workshop Dortoka. Cathrine Larsåsen
Cathrine Larsåsen (born 5 December 1986) is a Norway, Norwegian pole vaulter. She hails from Oslo and represents the club IL i BUL. She won the Norwegian championships ten times in a row between 2004 and 2013, although on the same result as Katrine Haarklau in 2009 and 2013. Her first international outing came at the 2007 European Athletics U23 Championships – Women's pole vault, 2007 European U23 Championships where she finished ninth with 4.10 metres. She equalled her own Norwegian records in athletics, Norwegian record in the qualification, with 4.15 metres. Larsåsen had previously set five Norwegian outdoor records, and before the year was over she improved it to 4.21 metres at the Norwegian junior championships in Tønsberg. In 2008 and 2009, she improved gradually. At the 2008 Norwegian championships she improved the record to 4.30 metres, and was awarded the King's Cup (Norway), King's Cup. Minna Marianne Nikkanen (born 9 April 1988, in Somero) is a Finnish pole vaulter. Her personal best vault is 4.60 metres (national record), achieved in August 2015 in Kuortane. Nikkanen won gold medal in 2007 European Junior Championships (4.35 metres) and silver medal in 2009 European U23 Championships (4.45 metres). Kate Dennison
Kate Rooney (born Kate Dennison, 7 May 1984) is an English pole vaulter. She is a former British record holder both indoors and out, before both of her records were surpassed by Holly Bleasdale in 2011. Born in Durban, South Africa, Rooney came from a sporting family and moved to Alsager, England, when she was four years old. She first became interested in athletics through gymnastics. Rooney was selected to compete at national and international levels, finishing fourth in the British Championships, but did not feel passionate about the sport and changed to pole vault in 2000. She became the first British junior athlete to jump 4.00 meters, as she finished seventh at the 2002 World Junior Championships in Kingston, Jamaica. She competed at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and was the top English performer, finishing seventh overall. Jiřina Kudličková, née Ptáčníková (; born 20 May 1986) is a former Czech pole vaulter. She won the 2012 European Athletics Championships in Helsinki and the 2014 World Indoor Championships. Biography She is the daughter of the Czech sprinter František Ptáčník. Ptáčníková achieved a personal best (indoor) of 4.70 metres in Donetsk in 2012. This was a Czech record. She improved to 4.71 m in 2014, which was also a Czech record. She also achieved outdoor personal best of 4.76 metres in Plzeň in September 2013.
