2010 European Athletics Championships – Men's 20 Kilometres Walk
The men's 20 kilometres walk at the 2010 European Athletics Championships was held on the streets of Barcelona on 27 July. The race was originally won by Russian race walker Stanislav Emelyanov, who in 2014 was banned due to irregularities in his biological passport, and stripped of the gold medal. Italian Alex Schwazer was promoted to gold, with fourth-placed Rob Heffernan Robert Heffernan (born 28 February 1978) is an Irish race walker. 2010 European Athletics Championships
The 2010 European Athletics Championships were the 20th edition of the European Athletics Championships, organised under the supervision of the European Athletic Association. They were held at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain from 27 July to 1 August 2010. Barcelona was the first Spanish city to host the European Championships. Barni was the mascot of the event, he was the main promotional tool of the Championship. His name comes from Barna and was designed by the workshop Dortoka. Francisco Javier Fernández Peláez (born 6 March 1977 in Guadix, Province of Granada, Andalusia), better known as Paquillo Fernández, is a retired Spanish race walker. Matej Tóth (; born 10 February 1983) is a Slovak race walker. He is a former Olympic champion in the 50 km walk. Career Toth won the gold medal in the 50 km walk at the 2010 IAAF World Race Walking Cup, and at the 2015 World Championships, taking Slovakia's first ever gold at the championships.
