Sorel-Tracy
Sorel-Tracy (; ) is a city in southwestern Quebec, Canada and the geographical end point of the Champlain Valley. It is located at the confluence of the Richelieu River and the St. Lawrence River, on the western edge of Lac Saint-Pierre, downstream and northeast of Montreal. The population as of the Canada 2011 Census was 34,600. Its mayor is Patrick Péloquin and it is the seat of the Pierre-De Saurel Regional County Municipality and the judicial district of Richelieu. The city is the result of a voluntary amalgamation in 2001 between two cities, Sorel and Tracy, which developed on opposite shores of the Richelieu River: Tracy on the west shore (left) and Sorel on the east (right) shore. In 1992 Sorel had annexed the municipality of Saint-Pierre-de-Sorel; today it forms the southern part of its territory. Sorel was founded in 1642. Earle Morris (Canadian Curler)
Earle H. C. Morris (born August 16, 1945) is a Canadian curler from Ottawa, Ontario. He is the first curler to have played for three different provinces at the Brier (since then, the feat has been duplicated by Ryan Fry and Morris' son John). He is the inventor of the "Stabilizer" curling delivery aid. He was named to the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 2016. He is currently the coach of the Elena Stern rink. Career Morris grew up in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. He was a great athlete growing up, excelling in both baseball and in curling. Working with the military, Morris moved around a lot, giving him the opportunity to curl out of many places. He made it to his first Brier in 1980, curling out of the CFB Winnipeg Curling Club and representing Manitoba. Alex Forrest (curler)
Alex Forrest (born February 13, 1989) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Until 2020, he played third for the Jason Gunnlaugson rink. Career Juniors Forrest made his first and only Canadian Junior Curling Championships appearance in 2010 skipping Team Manitoba. The team finished the round robin in first place only suffering two losses to Northern Ontario and Saskatchewan. This meant the team had an automatic bye to the final. There, they faced Ontario who they had previously beaten in the round robin. Unfortunately, the team gave up two in the final end to lose the game 8–7. Forrest curled an average 80% during the round robin, which was second among skips. Men's Forrest played second for the Jeff Stoughton rink for the 2014–15 season, which would be Stoughton's last. Bradley Thiessen (born March 1, 1990 in Edmonton, Alberta) is a Canadian curler. He was a long-time member of the Brendan Bottcher rink, throwing second stones for the team until 2022. With Bottcher, he won the 2021 Tim Hortons Brier and represented Canada at the 2021 World Men's Curling Championship. Career Juniors Thiessen was a member of the Bottcher rink at the 2010 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, representing Alberta. There, the team finished with a 6-6 record. Thiessen aged off the team, and was not a member of the team when Bottcher won the 2012 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Brendan Bottcher
Brendan Michael Bottcher (born December 19, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Sherwood Park, Alberta. Bottcher is a three-time provincial men's champion, and was the skip of the 2021 Canadian men's championship team, having led Alberta to victory at the 2021 Tim Hortons Brier. Born in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Bottcher enjoyed a successful junior career winning the 2012 Canadian Junior Curling Championships and the 2012 World Junior Curling Championships. He was also the 2010 Alberta junior men's champion and the 2007 Alberta juvenile provincial finalist. Bottcher skips his own team out of the Saville Sports Centre in Edmonton. Canadian Junior Curling Championships
The Canadian Junior Curling Championships is an annual curling tournament held to determine the best junior-level curling team in Canada. Junior level curlers must be under the age of 21 as of June 30 in the year prior to the tournament. The event began in 1950 as the National Schoolboys Championship, and all members of a team had to attend the same high school. Efforts to establish the event were led by Ken Watson, Maurice Smith and others. From 1950 to 1957, teams played for the Victor Sifton Trophy. Sifton's newspaper chain was the sponsor of the event during this time. From 1958 to 1975 the event was sponsored by Pepsi and was known as the Pepsi Schoolboys, becoming the Pepsi Juniors in 1976. At that time, the age limit of the event was adjusted to match the eligibility for the World Junior Curling Championships which began in 1975.
