2010 British Formula Ford Season
The 2010 British Formula Ford Championship was the 35th edition of the British Formula Ford Championship. It commenced on 5 April at Oulton Park's Easter Monday meeting and ended on 26 September at Brands Hatch after 10 rounds and 25 races, held in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Jamun Racing continued their recent domination of the championship, with Scott Pye securing the team's sixth successive drivers' championship. From the 25 races held during the season, Pye won twelve of them, claiming four fastest laps as well as equalling 2007 champion Callum MacLeod's record of 17 pole positions in a season, including pole positions in the last nine races. Pye, who had moved to the UK championship having previously been a multiple race-winner in the Australian Formula Ford Championship, came on top after a season-long battle with Cliff Dempsey Racing's Scott Malvern. British Formula Ford Championship
The British Formula Ford Championship was an entry level single seater motor racing category, designed to give racing drivers their first step into car racing after karting. Drivers from around the world were attracted to the United Kingdom to compete in the series, and successful Formula One drivers such as Ayrton Senna and Jenson Button won their first single-seater titles in the championship. The championship was run to various Formula Ford regulations over the years, based on the engines provided for the championship by Ford Motor Company. These engine based regulations/specifications include the Ford Kent engine, Ford Zetec engine, Ford Duratec engine and in the final years the Ford EcoBoost engine. From the 2015 season onwards, the championship was replaced by MSA Formula, which conforms to the FIA's new Formula 4 regulations. Joe Tandy
Joseph Tandy (1 January 1983 – 13 May 2009) was a British racing driver and team owner. Career Ministox Tandy started his racing career unusually in short oval Ministox machinery in 1994. However, by the end of 1998, Tandy had won 45 races, with 60 other podium placings as he became both British and World Ministox champion, as well as being a three-time East Anglian Ministox champion. He continued in this level of motorsport in 1999, winning another 28 races to become British champion for the second time. Mini Sevens After a year off in 2000, Tandy took up circuit racing by moving into the Mini Seven Challenge in 2001. Van Diemen
Van Diemen International, Ltd. was a British race car manufacturer based in Snetterton, Norfolk, United Kingdom. The company had a reputation for high-volume production runs of its cars, the most well-known of which is its series of Formula Ford chassis, which have been at the forefront of that class of motorsport for over 20 years and led it to becoming the largest manufacturer of bespoke racing cars in the world. As well as Formula Ford, Van Diemen built cars for Formula Ford 2000, Sports 2000 and Star Mazda series. Emil Bernstorff
Emil G. J. Bernstorff (born 7 June 1993) is a British racing driver of Danish and German descent. He last raced in the 2016 GP2 Series. Career Karting Born in Greater London, Bernstorff began karting in 2003 and raced mostly in the United Kingdom for the majority of his karting career, working his way up from the junior ranks to progress through to the KF2 category by 2009, when he finished in eighth position in the Spanish KF2 championship. Jeroen Slaghekke
Jeroen Slaghekke (born 3 May 1992 at The Hague, Netherlands) is a Dutch racing driver. He finished 3rd in the Suzuki Swift Cup Netherlands in 2009 and was the 2011 vice-champion in the British Formula Ford Championship. Racing career Netherlands Jeroen started his motorsport career in go-karts in 2007, Racing in the Dutch RK-1 4 stroke karting championship. Slaghekke then moved up to touring cars in 2008 where he raced in the Suzuki Swift Cup Netherlands for the Coronel Junior Team run by Tom Coronel. 2009 saw Slaghekke race a second year in Suzuki Swift Cup Netherlands with the Coronel Junior Team, in which he finished 3rd overall with 170 points. Motorsport.tv was a pan-European digital television channel dedicated to motorsport. It ceased broadcasting in late September 2018 to concentrate on web-streaming only. Launched in 2000 as Motors TV, it broadcast an extensive range of national and international racing series featuring cars, motorbikes, boats and aircraft. Castle Combe Circuit
Castle Combe Circuit is a motor racing circuit in Wiltshire, England, approximately from Bristol. The circuit is based on the perimeter track of a former World War II airfield, and was opened for racing in 1950. History The Castle Combe airfield opened in May 1941 on land of the Castle Combe estate, owned by the Gorst family, and operated as RAF Castle Combe for seven years before being decommissioned in 1948. During the war, the airfield was a training ground for pilots. From 1946 to 1948 the buildings served as a resettlement camp for Polish ex-service personnel. The property was returned to the Gorst family in 1948; with the Bristol Motorcycle & Light Car Club, they organized the first race in July 1950. By 1955 the property was divided and sold. Formula Ford Festival
The Formula Ford Festival is an annual meeting of Ford-powered single-seat racing cars which is held at the end of the British racing season, at the Brands Hatch motor racing circuit in the county of Kent, in Southern England. The events are held over the course of a weekend and although various classes of past and present Formula Fords are present, the high point for many is the championship in which young but skilled drivers from Ford competitions in Europe and beyond race against one another. Often it is a rare chance to compare the skills of drivers who take part in different Ford competitions around the world. The 2010 Masters of Formula 3 was the twentieth Masters of Formula 3 race, and was held at Circuit Park Zandvoort in the Netherlands on 6 June 2010. The race was won by Valtteri Bottas, for ART Grand Prix, becoming the first person to win the event twice, having won the race the year before. The podium was completed by other Formula 3 Euro Series drivers, with Bottas' team-mate Alexander Sims finishing second having started from pole position, while Signature's Marco Wittmann was third. Circuit Park Zandvoort
Circuit Zandvoort (), known for sponsorship reasons as CM.com Circuit Zandvoort, and previously known as Circuit Park Zandvoort until 2017, is a motorsport race track located in the dunes north of Zandvoort, the Netherlands, near the North Sea coast line. It returned to the Formula One calendar in 2021 as the location of the revived Dutch Grand Prix. History 1930s to mid 1980s There were plans for races at Zandvoort before World War II: the first street race was held on 3 June 1939. Dennis Lind
Dennis Lind (born 3 February 1993 in Roskilde) is a Danish racing driver of Colombian descent who is currently participating in GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup and the British GT Championship. He is the nephew and cousin of Formula One drivers Jan and Kevin Magnussen, respectively. Lind currently competes full-time in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup for JP Motorsport. He is both European and World Champion of Lamborghini Super Trofeo. Career Lind started his racing career by karting, driving in Italy but mainly in Scandinavia, throughout 2006 and 2007. Damon Hill
Damon Graham Devereux Hill, (born 17 September 1960) is a British former professional racing driver from England and the 1996 Formula One World Champion. He is the son of Graham Hill, and, along with Nico Rosberg, one of two sons of a Formula One World Champion to also win the title. He started racing on motorbikes in 1981, and after minor success moved on to single-seater racing cars. Hill became a test driver for the Formula One title-winning Williams team in 1992. He was promoted to the Williams race team the following year after Riccardo Patrese's departure and took the first of his 22 victories at the 1993 Hungarian Grand Prix.
