The 2010 Basingstoke and Deane Council election took place on 6 May 2010 to elect members of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in Hampshire, England. It was part of the wider English Local Elections, which were postponed from their usual date of the first Thursday of May so that they could coincide with the General Election of that year. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative Party stayed in overall control of the council. Basingstoke ( ) is the largest town in the county of Hampshire. It is situated in south-central England and lies across a valley at the source of the River Loddon, at the far western edge of The North Downs. It is located north-east of Southampton, south-west of London, 27 miles (43 km) west of Guildford, south of Reading and north-east of the county town and former capital Winchester. Kempshott
Kempshott is a ward of Basingstoke on the western edge of the town, to the south of Pack Lane (part of the Harrow Way)and north of Winchester Road. The population of the ward at the 2011 Census was 6,827. History The manor of Kempshott belonged to Aldret in the reign of Edward the Confessor, and is recorded as being part of the possessions of Hugh de Port, High Sheriff of Hampshire in 1086. A. M. W. The 2011 Basingstoke and Deane Council election took place on 5 May 2011 to elect members of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in Hampshire, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative Party stayed in overall control of the council. Election result The election had 21 seats being contested, with the contest in Popley East being a by-election after Mary Brian resigned from the council. The Conservatives remained in control of the council with 34 seats, while Labour gained 2 seats to have 11 councillors. Meanwhile, the Liberal Democrats lost one seat, but remained the second largest group with 13 seats. Hatch Warren is a district and ward of Basingstoke in Hampshire, England. The population of the appropriate ward called Hatch Warren and Beggarwood was 9,284 at the 2011 Census. It is situated west of the town centre and neighbouring housing estates include Kempshott and Brighton Hill. It is primarily served by Brighton Hill Community School (a secondary school), one Primary school, St Marks and a junior school, Hatch Warren. It lies within the Hatch Warren & Beggarwood ward of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
