2010 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 2010 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 114th staging of Ireland's premier hurling competition since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. A total of thirteen teams competed in the championship, with Tipperary unseating the four-time defending champions Kilkenny by 4-17 to 1-18 in the final at Croke Park, Dublin. The championship began on 22 May 2010 and concluded on 5 September 2010. Pre-championship The build-up to the opening of the championship was dominated by Kilkenny and the 'drive for five'. 'The Cats' were installed as the bookies' favourites to retain the All-Ireland title for an unprecedented fifth successive occasion. Eoin Kelly (Tipperary Hurler)
Eoin Kelly (born 6 January 1982) is an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-forward at senior level for the Tipperary county team. Born in Mullinahone, County Tipperary, Kelly first played competitive hurling whilst at school in St Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of fifteen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor team as a goalkeeper, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 2000 championship. Kelly had a lengthy career, and won two All-Ireland medals, five Munster medals and two National Hurling League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions. At international level Kelly has played for the composite rules shinty-hurling team. The Record Of The Nine
The record of the nine was a term used in hurling to refer to the nine men who held the record between 1944 and 2009 for winning four consecutive All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship winners' medals. This occurred between 1941 and 1944 when Cork won the championship title every year. Only nine men played in all four finals, hence the record of the nine. These men were Din Joe Buckley, Alan Lotty, Jack Lynch, Willie Murphy, Paddy O'Donovan, Johnny Quirke, Christy Ring, Batt Thornhill and Dr. Jim Young. Their record stood for 65 years in spite of some close calls in the interim. In 1952 Tipperary had won the three previous All-Ireland titles and looked set for a fourth consecutive triumph. Edward Coady
Edward "Eddie" Coady (born 1978) is an Irish hurler who plays as a left corner-forward for the Carlow senior team. Coady made his first appearance for the team during the 1999 National League and has become a regular member of the starting fifteen since then. During that time he has won two Christy Ring Cup medals, one National League (Division 2A) medal and three Kehoe Cup medals. At club level Coady is an All-Ireland and Leinster medalist at intermediate level with Mount Leinster Rangers. He has also won four county senior championship medals. Carlow GAA
The Carlow County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Luthchleas Gael Coiste Ceatharlach) or Carlow GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Carlow and the Carlow county teams. The Carlow county football team play in the Leinster Senior Football Championship and in Division 3 of the Allianz Football League for 2019. Dinny Cahill
Dinny Cahill (born 29 December 1954 in Cloughjordan, County Tipperary, Ireland) is an Irish hurling manager and former player. He is the former manager of the Antrim senior hurling team. Cahill enjoyed a successful playing career at club level with Kilruane MacDonagh's while his career at inter-county level with Tipperary came during an uncharacteristic famine. He was a midfielder on the former team during a hugely successful period for the club in the 1970s and 1980s, the highlight of which was the winning of an All-Ireland club medal in 1986. Immediately after retiring from inter-county activity Cahill became involved in team management. He has taken charge of club and inter-county teams all over the country, including Portumna in Galway, Doon in Limerick, Graigue-Ballycallan in Kilkenny, as well as the Laois senior inter-county team. Paul Shiels is a hurler from County Antrim, Northern Ireland, who plays as a midfielder for the Antrim senior team. Casement Park ( ga, Páirc Mhic Asmaint) is the principal Gaelic games stadium in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and serves as the home ground of the Antrim football and hurling teams. Justin McCarthy (hurler)
Justin J. McCarthy (born 1945 in Passage West, County Cork) is an Irish former hurling manager and former player, who took over as manager of the Limerick senior inter-county team in October 2008. He played hurling with his local club Passage and with the Cork senior inter-county team in the 1960s and 1970s. As a player McCarthy was involved with the Cork team of the late 1960s. In a senior inter-county career that lasted from 1964 until 1974 he won one All-Ireland title, three Munster titles, two National Hurling League titles and two Railway Cup titles. Over the last four decades McCarthy has had some success as a manager with many different teams. In the 1970s he coached Antrim to an All-Ireland title at intermediate level before capturing back-to-back National Hurling League titles with Clare.
