2009–10 Polish Cup
The 2009–10 Polish Cup was the fifty-sixth season of the annual Polish cup competition. It began on July 29, 2009 with the extra preliminary round and ended on May 21, 2010 with the final, played at neutral venue. The winners qualified for the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League. Lech Poznań were the defending champions. Czarni Żagań
Czarni Żagań is a Polish association football club based in Żagań, Lower Silesia. History The club was founded in 1957 by soldiers from the Żagań Garrison. It is the most successful football teams in Lubusz Voivodeship; only Czarni from this voivodeship reached the final of the Polish Cup. They lost 4–0 to Górnik Zabrze. After the 1965 final, Czarni should have played in the 1965–66 European Cup Winners' Cup, but for political and military reasons, Czarni didn't join the competition. In the years 2019–2021, there was a senior women's team. The resulting crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border meant that at the beginning of November 2021 most players of Czarni serving in the Polish Armed Forces received official orders, which prevented them from representing Czarni in the last four games of the IV liga in 2021. MKS Kluczbork is a football club based in Kluczbork, Opole Voivodeship, Poland. History The club was founded in 2003 as the merger of three local clubs: KKS Kluczbork (itself a result of merger in 1945 between ZKK Kluczbork and Cresovia Kluczbork), LKS Kuniów and the local inter-school sports organisation. The club itself, although founded recently, relates to the town's very rich footballing history, inheriting the stadium and facilities of the previous most successful Kluczbork club Metal Kluczbork. The ''Kotwica'' (; Polish for "Anchor") was a World War II emblem of the Polish Underground State and ''Armia Krajowa'' (Home Army, or ''AK''). It was created in 1942 by members of the ''AK'' Wawer Minor sabotage unit, as an easily usable emblem for the Polish struggle to regain independence. The initial meaning of the initials PW was ''Pomścimy Wawer'' ("We shall avenge Wawer"). This was a reference to the Wawer massacre (26–27 December 1939), which was considered to be one of the first large scale massacres of Polish civilians by German troops in occupied Poland. At first, Polish scouts from sabotage groups painted the whole phrase upon walls. However, it was soon abbreviated to the letters PW, which over time came to symbolise the phrase ''Polska Walcząca'' ("Poland Fighting").
