2009–10 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Season
The 2009–10 NCAA Division I women's basketball season began in November 2009 and ended with the 2010 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament's championship game on April 6, 2010 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The tournament opened with the first and second rounds on Thursday through Sunday, March 18–21, 2010. Regional games were played on Thursday through Sunday, March 28–31, 2010, with the Final Four played on Sunday and Tuesday, April 4 and 6, 2010. The Connecticut Huskies successfully defended their national title from the previous season, defeating Stanford 53–47 in the final. This was the Huskies' second consecutive unbeaten championship season, unprecedented since the NCAA began to organize women's basketball in the 1981–82 season. Alamodome
The Alamodome is a 64,000-seat domed indoor multi-purpose stadium in San Antonio, Texas. It is located on the southeastern fringe of downtown San Antonio. The facility opened on May 15, 1993, having been constructed at a cost of $186 million. The multi-purpose facility was intended to increase the city's convention traffic and attract a professional football franchise. It also placated the San Antonio Spurs' demands for a larger arena. The Spurs played in the Alamodome for a decade, then became disenchanted with the facility and convinced Bexar County to construct a new arena for them, now called the AT&T Center. The Alamodome's regular tenants are currently the UTSA Roadrunners. Ashley Houts
Ashley Houts (born December 31, 1987) is an American professional basketball player most recently with the Washington Mystics of the WNBA. High school career Ashley Houts attended Dade County High School where she played basketball. During her attendance she was elected to play the McDonald's and WBCA High School All-American games and was also named second-team All-American by Parade and Sixth-team by Street & Smith's. She is a two-time All-American honoree who led the Georgia Metros to the 2005 national title in Orlando as well as the U.S. Junior Nationals in Washington, D.C. The 2009–10 Duke Blue Devils women's basketball team represented Duke University in the 2009–10 NCAA Division I basketball season. The Blue Devils were coached by Joanne P. Courtney Vandersloot
Courtney Vandersloot (born February 8, 1989) is an American and Hungarian basketball point guard for the Chicago Sky of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and for Sopron Basket in the Hungarian National Championship.
