2009–10 Indonesia Super League
The 2009–10 Indonesia Super League was the second edition of this newly born competition (which replaced the Premier Division as the top rank of football system in the country. Persipura Jayapura were the defending champions, having won their first title in the previous season, or the second title if counting the Premier Division era, equalling the record for the most top league titles, along with Persik Kediri. The campaign began on 11 October 2009. A total of 18 teams competed in the league, 14 of which contested the 2008–09 season and four of which were promoted from the Premier Division. The title was won by Arema Indonesia. This was their second title in their history. Putra Samarinda Football Club was an Indonesian football club located in Samarinda, East Kalimantan. Nicknamed ''Pesut Mahakam'', they won the Liga Indonesia Premier Division title in the 2008–09 season. History Early years (1989–2003) The club was formed in 1989 as Putra Samarinda Football Club, or often called Pusam, by a local businessman, Harbiansyah Hanafiah, to competed in semi-professional competition Galatama. But when the top two competitions in Indonesia, Perserikatan and Galatama, merged to form Liga Indonesia, Pusam suffered a financial crisis throughout the time. Deltras Football Club is an Indonesian football club based in Sidoarjo, East Java, Indonesia. They play in Liga 2. The club's home stadium is the Gelora Delta Stadium. History Founded in 1989 by a businessman named H.M. Mislan as Gelora Dewata '89 with home base in Bali, they moved to Sidoarjo in 2001 and changed their name to Gelora Putra Delta after playing some matches in the early 2001–2002 season. Persatuan Sepakbola Indonesia Tangerang ( 'Indonesian Football Association of Tangerang'), commonly known as Persita is an Indonesian professional football club based in Tangerang. The 2008–09 Liga Indonesia Premier Division (also known as Liga Esia for sponsorship reasons) was the 14th season of the Liga Indonesia Premier Division. It was the first season for the Liga Indonesia Premier Division as the second tier of the Indonesian football pyramid, following the creation of the Indonesia Super League as the first tier. Changes from 2007–08 season The Football Association of Indonesia's decision to create a new Indonesia Super League relegated the Liga Indonesia Premier Division to the second tier of Indonesian football for the first time. The Indonesian football league system is a series of league system for association football clubs in Indonesia. Since 1994, Liga Indonesia is the league competition featuring association football clubs, as a result of two existing top-flight football leagues merger: Perserikatan (amateur) and Galatama (semi professional). The 2010–11 Indonesia Super League (also known as Djarum Indonesia Super League for sponsorship reasons) was the third season of the Indonesia Super League, a fully professional football competition that replaced the Premier Division as the top-tier of football competition in the country. The competition began on 26 September 2010 and ended on 19 June 2011.
