2009–10 IIHF Continental Cup
The Continental Cup 2009–10 was the 13th edition of the IIHF Continental Cup. The season started on September 25, 2009, and finished on January 15, 2010. The tournament was won by EC Red Bull Salzburg, Red Bull Salzburg, who led the final group. The points system used in this tournament was: the winner in regular time won 3 points, the loser 0 points; in case of a tie, an overtime and a penalty shootout is played, the winner in penalty shootouts or overtime won 2 points and the loser won 1 point. IIHF Continental Cup
The Continental Cup is a second-level ice hockey tournament for European clubs (behind Champions Hockey League), begun in 1997 after the discontinuing of the European Cup. It was intended for teams from countries without representatives in the European Hockey League, with participating teams chosen by the countries' respective ice hockey associations. Hans Dobida served as chairman of the Continental Cup until 2018. Format The competition began in 1997–98 with 42 clubs from 26 countries, which expanded to 48 teams for the next two years. The tournament was played in seeded rounds of qualifying groups. There were three rounds of qualifying groups, with winners of qualifying groups progressing to the next round. The three winners of the third round groups entered the semifinals, along with the host club. KS Cracovia (ice Hockey)
MKS Cracovia SSA, commonly referred to as Cracovia Kraków and currently playing as Comarch Cracovia for sponsorship reasons, is an ice hockey team in Kraków, Poland. With 12 Polish Championships (as of 2022), it is one of the most accomplished Polish ice hockey teams. They play in the Polska Hokej Liga, the country's top division. History Founded in 1906, Cracovia is the oldest existing sports club in Poland. Ice hockey in the form of bandy had been first played around 1909, and the first North American style ice hockey game was played in 1912. HC Yunost-Minsk ''( Belar. Юнацтва Менск, Junactva Miеnsk)'' is a Belarusian ice hockey team that plays in the Belarusian Extraleague. They play their home games at Chizhovka-Arena, located in Minsk. Yunost is the ten-times champion of Belarus, most recently in the 2020/2021 season. The Brûleurs de Loups (French for ''Wolfs Burners'') are a professional ice hockey team that play in Grenoble, France. History The club was founded in 1963 under the name Grenoble Hockey Club. Overtime is a method of determining a winner in an ice hockey game when the score is tied after regulation. The main methods of determining a winner in a tied game are the overtime period (commonly referred to as overtime), the shootout, or a combination of both.
