The 2009–10 Division 1 Féminine was the 36th edition of the women's league since its re-establishment by the French Football Federation. The league began on 27 September 2009 and ended on 13 June 2010. Olympique Lyonnais (ladies), Olympique Lyonnais were French women's football championship 2008–09, the defending champions. On 13 June 2010, Olympique Lyonnais (ladies), Olympique Lyonnais successfully defended their league title winning the league by one point over FCF Juvisy, Juvisy. The championship was assured following the club's 5–0 victory over AS Montigny-le-Bretonneux, Montigny-le-Bretonneux on the final match day of the season. Both Lyon and Juvisy will appear in 2010–11 UEFA Women's Champions League, next year's UEFA Women's Champions League. The Division 1 Féminine, shortened as D1 Féminine or D1F, and currently known as D1 Arkema for sponsorship reasons, is the highest division of women's football in France. Run by the French Football Federation, the league is contested by twelve fully professional clubs. Founded in 1974, the league exists in its current format since 1992. Seasons run from September to June, with teams playing 22 games each totaling 132 games in the season. Most games are played on Saturdays and Sundays. Play is regularly suspended after the second week in December before returning in the third week of January. The Division 1 Féminine is ranked the best women's league in Europe according to UEFA 2019–20 women's association club coefficients. Lyon is the club that has won the most first division titles (15); the club also holds the record for consecutive titles (fourteen).
