2009–10 California Golden Bears Men's Basketball Team
The 2009–10 California Golden Bears men's basketball team represented the University of California, Berkeley in the 2009–10 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was head coach Mike Montgomery's second season at California. The Golden Bears played their home games at Haas Pavilion and participate in the 2009–10 Pacific-10 Conference men's basketball season, Pacific-10 Conference. The Golden Bears finished the season 24–11, 13–5 in Pac-10 play to win the regular season conference championship, their first regular season title since the 1959–60 season. They lost to 2009–10 Washington Huskies men's basketball team, Washington in the finals of the 2010 Pacific-10 Conference men's basketball tournament, Pac-10 tournament. Mike Montgomery
Michael John Montgomery (born February 27, 1947) is a retired American basketball coach. He is best known for his 18-year tenure at Stanford (1986–2004), where he led the program to 12 NCAA Tournaments, including a Final Four appearance in 1998. Montgomery previously served as head coach at the Montana (1978–1986). Following his time at Stanford, he coached the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA) for two seasons (2004–2006) before ending his career at the University of California (2008–2014). He announced his retirement from coaching following the 2013–14 season. Over his 32-year collegiate coaching career, Montgomery made 16 NCAA Tournaments, captured 6 conference championships, and amassed nearly 700 victories. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. Jamal Boykin
Jamal Thomas Boykin (born April 27, 1987) is an American former professional basketball player. He played one full season of college basketball for Duke University before transferring to the University of California, Berkeley for his sophomore season. After completing his college career in 2010, Boykin began his professional career in Turkey. He went on to spend the majority of his professional career in Europe and Japan, but had a stint in New Zealand in 2014, where he earned league All-Star Five honors.
