2009–10 CCHL Season
The 2009–10 CCHL season was the first and only season of the Central Canadian Hockey League (CCHL). The 21 teams of the East and West Divisions competed in 50 regular season games, with the top eight teams in each division competing in the playoffs for the league championship. The CCHL's playoff champion played against the Ontario Junior A Hockey League's champion for the ''Buckland Cup''. The champion of that series played for the Dudley Hewitt Cup against the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League and Superior International Junior Hockey League champions for the right to attend the 2010 Royal Bank Cup. The league re-merged with the Ontario Junior A Hockey League after the 2009–10 season, and re-formed the Ontario Junior Hockey League. Changes * OJHL is dissolved. Central Canadian Hockey League
The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada. It is under the supervision of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) and the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). The league was listed as the 7th best developmental league in North America for professional and amateur ice hockey in July 2013 by the website, "TheHockeyWriters.com". The league dates back to 1954 where it began as the "Central Junior B Hockey League". In 1993, the Central Junior B Hockey League was promoted to the Junior A level and renamed the "Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League". In 2009, the league was dissolved by the Ontario Hockey Association and split into two leagues: the "Central Canadian Hockey League" and the "Ontario Junior A Hockey League". Wellington Dukes
The Wellington Dukes are a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Wellington, Ontario, Canada. They are in the Eastern Division of the Ontario Junior Hockey League and used to be a part of the Metro Junior A Hockey League. Originally a Junior C team in the 1970s and 1980s, the Dukes merged with the neighbouring Jr. B Belleville Bobcats and took their place in the Metro League. The Dukes have won the Dudley Hewitt Cup as Central Canadian Junior A Champions twice (2003, 2011). The Dukes won the Buckland Cup on April 22, 2018. History In the 1970s and early 1980s, the Wellington Dukes were members of the Empire Junior C, Quinte-St. Lawrence Junior C Hockey League. The league folded in 1986. Ajax (; 2021 Canadian census, 2021 population: 126,666) is a town in Regional Municipality of Durham, Durham Region in Southern Ontario, Canada, located in the eastern part of the Greater Toronto Area. Ajax Attack
The Ajax Attack were a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Ajax, Ontario, Canada. They were a part of the Central Canadian Hockey League. They used to be known as the Axemen. In the Summer of 2010, the Attack merged with the Pickering Panthers and left Ajax. History The team originated as a member of the Central Junior C Hockey League in 1986. In 1991 they made the jump to the Central Junior "B" league, despite limited success in the Central Junior "C" league, and stayed with the league in 1993 when it became the OPJHL. Since 1987, the Attack have only had one winning season and two .500 records. After the 2004-05 season, one of the worst seasons in OPJHL history, the Axemen changed their name to the Attack. Despite their name change, their woes continued in 2005-06 finishing out of the playoffs in a league that allows 32 teams into their playoffs every year. Whitby is a town in Durham Region. Whitby is located in Southern Ontario east of Ajax and west of Oshawa, on the north shore of Lake Ontario and is home to the headquarters of Durham Region. Whitby Fury
The Haliburton County Huskies are a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Haliburton, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. History This franchise was founded in 1965 as the Oshawa Crushmen, and were initially a member of the Eastern Junior B Hockey League. In 1972, the Crushmen jumped to the Metro Junior B Hockey League and were renamed the Legionaires. In the late 1970s, the Legionaires were coached by future National Hockey League coach "Iron" Mike Keenan. Keenan's star player during this time was a young Dale Hawerchuk. At the end of the 2005–06 season, the Oshawa Legionaires were bought out by NHLers Keith Primeau, Wayne Primeau, as well as business man Peter Tosh. Keith had recently retired due to injury and created his own equipment line known as "Fury", based out of Oshawa. Lindsay is a community of 22 367 people (2021 Canadian Census, 2021 census) on the Scugog River in the Kawartha Lakes (Ontario), Kawartha Lakes region of south-eastern Ontario, Canada. It is approximately west of Peterborough, Ontario, Peterborough. It is the seat of the Kawartha Lakes, City of Kawartha Lakes (formerly Victoria County, Ontario, Victoria County), and the hub for business and commerce in the region. History The Township of Ops was surveyed in 1825 by Colonel Duncan McDonell, and Lots 20 and 21 in the 5th Concession were reserved for a town site. Lindsay Muskies
The Lindsay Muskies are a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Lindsay, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. History The Muskies started out in the Central Junior C Hockey League. In 1989, the team jumped to the Central Junior "B" and stayed with the league when it became the OPJHL in 1993. Peterborough ( ) is a city on the Otonabee River in Ontario, Canada, about 125 kilometres (78 miles) northeast of Toronto. The Peterborough Stars were a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Ontario Junior Hockey League. All players from Peterborough that remain junior eligible will have their player cards sent to the Lindsay Muskies as the Stars merged into the Lindsay Muskies. History The franchise started in the Ontario Hockey Association's Eastern Junior B Hockey League in 1960 and ended in 2012 when the Stars folded and merged into the Lindsay Muskies. Stouffville () is the primary urban area within the town of Whitchurch-Stouffville in York Region, Ontario, Canada. The Stouffville Spirit are a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Whitchurch–Stouffville, Ontario, Canada. The Stouffville Spirit are members of the Central Canadian Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History From 1970 until 1984, the Stouffville Clippers were members of the Central Junior C Hockey League. From 1984 until 1995, the team was on a long hiatus. The Clippers were brought back in 1995, changed their name to the Spirit a season later, and have been members of the OPJHL ever since. Junior hockey has a long and storied history in Stouffville.
