The 2009–10 Algerian Championnat National, referred to as the Nedjma Algerian Championnat National for sponsorship reasons, was the 48th season of the Algerian Championnat National since its establishment in 1962. A total of 18 teams contested the league, with ES Sétif as the defending champions. It started on August 6, 2009, and ended on May 31, 2010. MC Alger were crowned champions, the seventh time in club history, on the final day of the season after a 4-0 win against MSP Batna. The Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 ( ar, الرابطة الجزائرية المحترفة الأولى لكرة القدم); known as Championnat National de Première Division or Ligue 1 for short, and formerly known as the Championnat National 1, is the Algerian professional league for association football clubs. It is the country's primary football competition and serves as the top division of the Algerian football league system. Chlef ( ar, الشلف, Berber: Clef) is the capital of Chlef Province, Algeria. Located in the north of Algeria, west of the capital, Algiers, it was founded in 1843, as Orléansville, on the ruins of Roman ''Castellum Tingitanum''. In 1962, it was renamed al-Asnam, but after the devastating earthquake on October 10, 1980, it has borne its present name, Chlef, which is derived from the name of the Chelif River, the longest river in Algeria.
