Chinese Super League 2009
The 2009 Chinese Super League season was the sixth season since the establishment of the Chinese Super League, the sixteenth season of a professional football league and the 48th top-tier league season in China. Beijing Guoan won their first ever Chinese Super League title. The events during the 2008 season saw Liaoning relegated and Wuhan withdrawn. They were replaced by the promoted teams Jiangsu Sainty and Chongqing Lifan. Zhejiang Greentown which is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang were renamed to Hangzhou Greentown. Each team is allowed to register a maximum of five foreign players and field four of them in starting line-up this season, one of whom must be from an AFC country. The league title sponsor is Italian tire manufacturer Pirelli. A three-year deal was announced on March 20, 2009. Nike have renewed sponsorship deal with Super League before season starts. Pan-Pacific Championship 2009
The 2009 Pan-Pacific Championship was the second edition of the Pan-Pacific Championship. It was held in February 2009 in Carson, California, United States and featured the champions from the Chinese Super League and K-League, J. League Cup winners, and the hosts, Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer. The Galaxy faced the Japanese representative, Oita Trinita, in the semi-final stage for the second successive year after facing Gamba Osaka in the 2008 competition, and this time they won the match. In the other semi-final, Korean side Suwon Samsung Bluewings beat Shandong Luneng Taishan of China. Oita Trinita beat Shandong Luneng 2–1 to finish third in the tournament and Suwon Bluewings won the trophy after a 4–2 penalty shootout win over the Galaxy. 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup
The 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup was the 5th edition of the tournament. It was held in Germany, who will also host the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup a year later from 13 July to 1 August 2010. Sixteen teams, comprising representatives from all six confederations, were taking part in the final competition, in which Germany had a guaranteed place as the host nation. Football at the 2009 Asian Youth Games was held from 20 June to 6 July 2009 at the Jalan Besar Stadium. The organizers also used few other college stadiums for the preliminary rounds, Temasek Polytechnic, Meridian Junior College, Victoria Junior College and Jurong Junior College. Age limit for the teams was under-14. South Korea won the gold medal after beating North Korea 2–0 in the final. The football tournament at the 2009 East Asian Games was the fifth edition of East Asian Games football tournament. It was held in Hong Kong form 2 December 2009 to 13 December 2009. The tournament was won by Hong Kong, who claimed their first international football tournament title. The Four Nations Tournament ( zh, 女足四国赛) is an invitational women's football tournament taking place in various cities of China since 1998. Since 2002, it has been held every year except for 2010. United States, Norway, China, North Korea, and Canada are the only winners of various editions of this tournament.
