2009 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship
The 2009 UEFA European Under-17 Championship was the eighth edition of UEFA's European Under-17 Football Championship since it was renamed from the original under-16 event, in 2001. Germany hosted the championship, during 6 to 18 May 2009, in thirteen venues, and the final took place at the Stadion Magdeburg, in Magdeburg. Spain was the current title holder, having successfully defended its 2007 title. The top 6 teams qualified for the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Qualification The final tournament of the 2009 UEFA European Under-17 Championship was preceded by two qualification stages: a qualifying round and an Elite round. Lennart Thy (born 25 February 1992) is a German professional footballer who plays as a striker for Eerste Divisie club PEC Zwolle. Club career On 18 January 2016, Werder Bremen announced Thy would be returning to the club for the 2016–17 season. He signed a three-year contract. Nassim Ben Khalifa (born 13 January 1992) is a Swiss footballer. He currently plays for the J1 League club Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Club career Grasshopper Ben Khalifa started playing football with local team Nyon, Gland and Lausanne-Sport before joining Grasshopper after being recommended by Stéphane Chapuisat and this was the start of his professional career. Milorad Mažić ( sr-Cyrl, Милорад Мажић, ; born 23 March 1973) is a Serbian international association football referee. He became a FIFA referee in 2009. Beside working in the Serbian football league system, Mažić officiated numerous matches in the UEFA Champions League (including the 2018 final) and the Europa League, as well as the 2016 UEFA Super Cup. Torgau
Torgau () is a town on the banks of the Elbe in northwestern Saxony, Germany. It is the capital of the district Nordsachsen. Janick Kamber (born 26 February 1992) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays for amateur club FC Mümliswil. André Caetano Gonçalves (born 23 January 1992) is a Swiss-Portuguese professional footballer currently playing for FC Linth 04. Club career Gonçalves began his playing career with lower league clubs FC Glarus and FC Rapperswil-Jona before moving on to Swiss Super League club FC Zürich in 2006. Kofi Nimeley (born 11 December 1992) is a Swiss-Ghanaian professional footballer currently playing for SC Binningen. Club career Nimeley initially started his career with SV Muttenz but quickly moved on to FC Basel as an academy player.
