2009 UAE International Cup
The 2009 UAE International Cup was held in Al Ain City with the participation of four teams. They were UAE, Czech Republic, Iraq and Azerbaijan. The first games were on 15 November 2009. On that day, Iraq played Azerbaijan, and that game was followed by the match between UAE and Czech Republic. The final was played on 18 November 2009 between Iraq and UAE. The third-placed match was also played on that day featuring Azerbaijan and Czech Republic. Iraq were the only team not to concede a goal in the tournament. Mahdi Karim
Mahdi Karim Ajeel ( ar, مهدي كريم عجيل, born December 10, 1983 in Iraq) is a former Iraqi footballer. He last played as a winger for Al-Talaba in Iraq and the Iraq national football team. Vagif Javadov
Vagif Javadov ( az, Vaqif Cavadov; born 25 May 1989) is an Azerbaijani people, Azerbaijani Association football, football coach and a former player who played as a Forward (association football), striker. He was voted Azerbaijani Footballer of the Year in 2009. Javadov started playing football at age 7 and attended one of the local football schools under Vagif Pashayev. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper.
