2009 Rally Scotland
The 2009 Rally Scotland was the 11th and final round of the 2009 Intercontinental Rally Challenge, and the first edition of the Rally Scotland/ The event was held between 19–21 November during some of the wettest weather seen in the UK. The rally was officially started at the historic site of Scone Palace on Thursday 19th and concluded with a ceremonial finish at Stirling Castle on Saturday 21st. The first ten cars were flagged away at the start by the First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond and Jackie Stewart. The weather and the battle between Kris Meeke and Guy Wilks dominated the weekend with Meeke winning the rally on the road. 2009 Intercontinental Rally Challenge Season
The 2009 Intercontinental Rally Challenge was the fourth season of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. The season consists of twelve rounds and began on January 21, with the 77° Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo. The season ended on November 21, at the inaugural RAC Rally of Scotland. With four wins, Kris Meeke won the championship ahead of Jan Kopecký and Freddy Loix. Calendar The calendar had been increased from 10 events in 2008, to twelve in 2009. Kris Meeke
Kris Meeke (born 2 July 1979) is a Northern Irish professional rally driver, best known for competing in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). He was the 2009 Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion. His co-driver is Seb Marshall, also British. He began his career as a Computer Aided Designer with M-Sport, at the headquarters of the Ford World Rally Team, before moving on to competing in the Peugeot Super 106 Cup in 2001. In 2011, Meeke debuted in the World Rally Championship driving a MINI for Prodrive. His first event was the Rally d'Italia Sardegna which was held between 5–8 May. Meeke scored his first WRC points and won the Power Stage at the 2011 Rally Catalunya. His maiden WRC win was at the 2015 Rally Argentina. John "Jock" Armstrong (born 23 January 1970) is a British rally driver from Castle Douglas. He was Scottish Rally Champion in 2015 and 2016. Career His first rally was in 1989 driving a Vauxhall Nova. In 1993 he won the UK Colway Tyres budget championship in a 1300cc Vauxhall Nova, ahead of drivers with more powerful cars. In October 2015, Armstrong and regular co-driver Paula Swinscoe were crowned the 2015 Scottish Rally champions. Alister McRae (born 20 December 1970) is a British rally driver who competed in the World Rally Championship. He is the son of the five-time British Rally Champion Jimmy McRae and the younger brother of the late 1995 World Rally Champion, Colin McRae, and older brother of property entrepreneur Stuart McRae. Jackie Stewart
Sir John Young Stewart (born 11 June 1939), known as Jackie Stewart, is a British former Formula One racing driver from Scotland.
