2009 Players Championship
The 2009 Players Championship was a golf tournament in Florida on the PGA Tour, held at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, southeast of Jacksonville. It was the 36th Players Championship. Henrik Stenson shot a bogey-free 66 in the final round to win at 276 (−12), four strokes ahead of Ian Poulter. Alex Čejka led by five strokes after the third round, but went out in 42 and finished in a tie for ninth. Stenson was the third European to win the title, after Sergio García the previous year and Sandy Lyle in 1987. Due to 83 players making the halfway cut (top 70 and ties), a second cut was initiated after the third round. Defending champion Sergio García finished ten strokes back, in a tie for 22nd place. 2009 PGA Tour
The 2009 PGA Tour season ran from January 8 to November 15. The season consisted of 46 official money events, one of which was canceled. This included four Men's major golf championships, major championships and three World Golf Championships, which are also sanctioned by the European Tour. Briny Baird
Michael Jancey "Briny" Baird (born May 11, 1972) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and Buy.com Tour. Early life Baird was born in Miami Beach, Florida, the son of professional golfer Butch Baird. He played varsity golf in the 7th grade at Miami Country Day. He originally attended Georgia Tech before transferring to Valdosta State University where he won the NCAA Division II individual golf championship in 1994 and 1995. He turned professional in 1995. Professional career Baird won the 2000 Monterrey Open on the Buy.com Tour (now the Korn Ferry Tour). He currently plays on the PGA Tour, but a poor 2005 season saw him lose his card. Aaron Baddeley
Aaron John Baddeley (born 17 March 1981) is an Australian professional golfer. He was born in Lebanon, New Hampshire, USA and now plays on the U.S.-based PGA Tour, he has joint U.S. and Australian citizenship and was raised in Australia from the age of two. Eric Allen Axley (born April 22, 1974) is an American professional golfer. Career Axley was born in Athens, Tennessee. He turned professional in 1997. Woody Austin
Albert Woody Austin II (born January 27, 1964) is an American professional golfer who played the majority of his career on the PGA Tour, but now plays on the PGA Tour Champions. Austin was born in Tampa, Florida. He attended the University of Miami, where he was a member of the golf team coached by Norman C. Parsons Jr. He graduated in 1986 with a degree in Business Administration and turned professional later that year. Austin won PGA Tour Rookie of the Year honors in 1995. Tommy Armour III
Thomas Dickson Armour III (born October 8, 1959) is an American professional golfer. Armour first joined the PGA Tour in 1981 at the age of 21. He has two career PGA Tour victories, winning the 1990 Phoenix Open and the 2003 Valero Texas Open. Armour previously held the scoring record for best overall 72 hole score (254), which he set with his Valero Texas Open victory in 2003, until it was surpassed in 2017 by Justin Thomas. Stuart Appleby (born 1 May 1971) is an Australian professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour Champions. He was a nine-time winner on the PGA Tour. Stephen Michael Ames (born April 28, 1964) is a professional golfer formerly of the PGA Tour, who now plays on the PGA Tour Champions. The biggest win of his career was at The Players Championship in 2006. He holds dual citizenship of Trinidad and Tobago and Canada. Robert Allenby (born 12 July 1971) is an Australian professional golfer. Early years Allenby was born on 12 July 1971 in Melbourne, Victoria. His father had emigrated to Australia from Leeds, UK as a young man. Michael Louis Allen (born January 31, 1959) is an American professional golfer, currently on the PGA Tour Champions. Early life and amateur career Allen was born in San Mateo, California and played college golf at the University of Nevada in Reno. Professional career Allen turned professional in 1984 and played on the European Tour 1986-89 and 1992, winning the 1989 Scottish Open. Allen played on the PGA Tour 1990-95, 2002, and 2004-09. Brad Adamonis
Bradley Fred Adamonis (born January 16, 1973) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour. Adamonis' grandparents are of Lithuanian descent. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island and graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1996 with a degree in Sports Management.
