2009 NRW Trophy
The 2009 NRW Trophy was held in two parts, with ice dancers competing separately from the singles disciplines and pair skating. Both competitions were held at the Eissportzentrum Westfalenhalle in Dortmund. The ice dancing competition was held between November 6 and 8, 2009, and the other disciplines were held between December 3 and 6, 2009. Samuel Contesti
Samuel Contesti (born 4 March 1983) is a French-Italian former competitive figure skater. He originally competed for France, then switched to Italy after the 2006–07 season. He is the 2009 European silver medalist and a five-time Italian national champion (2008–12). Personal life Samuel Contesti's father, Yves, was a professional football player in Ligue 1. He has two older sisters. Contesti married Geraldine Zulini in February 2007 and their son, Ennio, was born in June 2009. Their second child was born in 2012. Career Contesti initially competed for France, placing ninth at the 2005 European Championships and 26th at Worlds the same year. The next season, he placed 5th at Trophée Eric Bompard and 2nd at French Nationals but did not compete at Europeans or Worlds. Paul Fentz
Paul Fentz (born 8 September 1992) is a retired German figure skater. He has won four senior international medals and is a four-time German national champion (2018–20, 2022). He has competed in the final segment at eight ISU Championships. Career Fentz began appearing on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series in the 2008–09 season. His senior international debut came at the 2011 Triglav Trophy. In the 2011–12 season, he won the silver medal at the 2012 German Championships and was included in Germany's team to the 2012 European Championships in Sheffield, England. Karel Zelenka
Karel Zelenka (born March 31, 1983) is a Czech-Italian former competitive figure skater. He is a five-time (2003–2007) Italian national champion and competed at the 2006 Winter Olympics. He qualified to the free skate at eleven ISU Championships – three World, three World Junior, and five European Championships – and finished in the top ten twice. Personal life Zelenka was born in 1983 in Louny, Czechoslovakia. His father is a figure skating coach. The family moved to Italy when the younger Zelenka was six years old. Jamal Aziz Othman (born 13 August 1986 in Worb, Canton of Bern) is a Swiss former competitive figure skater. He is the 2009 Swiss national champion and a five-time (2002, 2005–2007, 2010) national silver medalist. Career Othman began skating at age six after previously trying gymnastics and rock and roll dancing. He was the 1999 Swiss Novice Champion and the 2000 and 2001 Swiss Junior Champion. He qualified for three Junior Grand Prix Finals, withdrawing from one due to a foot injury, and competed four times at Junior Worlds. Tatsuki Machida
(born March 9, 1990) is a Japanese retired figure skater. He is the 2014 World silver medalist, the 2010 Four Continents silver medalist, and the 2013–14 Japanese national silver medalist. Machida is the winner of four Grand Prix events — the 2012 Cup of China, 2013 Skate America, 2013 Rostelecom Cup, and 2014 Skate America. Personal life Tatsuki Machida was born in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan. He studied literature at Kansai University in Osaka.
