2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards
The 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) was the eleventh of the annual music awards in Seoul, South Korea that took place on November 21, 2009, at the Seoul Sports Complex. Newcomer girl group 2NE1 lead the nominations with 4 counts, followed by label-mate G-Dragon, soloist Baek Ji Young, and boy group 2PM with 3 each. At the end of the ceremony, 2NE1 received the most wins with 3 out of 4 including the Song of the Year daesang award. Next to them was boy and girl groups 2PM and Brown Eyed Girls respectively with 2 wins. Seoul Sports Complex ( ko, 서울종합운동장), also known as Jamsil Sports Complex ( ko, 잠실종합운동장), is a group of sports facilities in Songpa-gu in Seoul, South Korea. Ming Dao (; born 26 February 1980) is a Taiwanese actor, singer and model. He is known for starring in ''The Prince Who Turns into a Frog'', which held the highest single episode average rating of 6.99 for a Taiwanese drama from 2005 to 2008, and for being the winner of ''Best Host in Educational Programme'' at the 39th Golden Bell Awards. AKB48 (pronounced ''A.K.B. Forty-Eight'') is a Japanese idol girl group named after the Akihabara (''Akiba'' for short) area in Tokyo, where the group's theater is located. Kara (Hangul: 카라, Japanese: カラ, often stylized as KARA) is a South Korean pop girl group formed by DSP Media in 2007. The group's final lineup was composed of Gyuri, Seungyeon, Hara and Youngji.
