2009 Men's European Volleyball League
The 2009 Men's European Volleyball League was the six edition of the annual men's volleyball tournament, played by twelve European countries from June 5 to July 12, 2009. The final Four was held in Portimão, Portugal from July 18 to July 19. The tournament was won by Germany, defeating the Spain by 3–2 in the finals. Jochen Schöps
Jochen Schöps (born 8 October 1983) is a German professional volleyball player, a former member of the Germany national team, a participant at the Olympic Games (Beijing 2008, London 2012), bronze medallist at the 2014 World Championship, and the 2006–07 CEV Champions League winner. Personal life In March 2016, Schöps became a father to twins, daughter Lotte and son Theo. Career Clubs He won the 2006–07 CEV Champions League with VfB Friedrichshafen, and was named the ''Most Valuable Player''. With the Russian team of Iskra Odintsovo he reached the 2008–09 CEV Champions League semifinals and was named the ''Best Scorer'' of the tournament. In the 2013–14 PlusLiga season, he won the Polish Championship silver medal after losing the final games to PGE Skra Bełchatów. Miguel Ángel Falasca Fernández (29 April 1973 – 22 June 2019) was an Argentine-born Spanish professional volleyball player and coach. He was a member of the Spain national team from 1993 to 2009, a participant in the Olympic Games Sydney 2000, and the 2007 European Champion. Personal life Falasca was born in Mendoza, Argentina. His grandfather came from Italy. His father Juan Carlos was a retired volleyball player from Argentina, and his mother was a native Spaniard. At the age of 16, due to the unstable economic situation in Argentina, the Falasca family decided to move to Spain. Valdir Sousa Sequeira (born 22 November 1981) is a Portuguese male volleyball player of Angolan descent. He is part of the Portugal men's national volleyball team. On club level he plays for Sporting CP since october 2017. Firstly he joined S.L.
