The 2009 Japan Open Super Series was a top level badminton competition which was held from September 22, 2009 to September 27, 2009 in Tokyo, Japan. It was the eighth BWF Super Series competition on the 2009 BWF Super Series schedule. The total purse for the event was $200,000. Japan Open (badminton)
The Japan Open is an annual badminton tournament held in Japan. It became part of the BWF Super Series tournaments in 2007. Tine Rasmussen
Tine Baun (née Rasmussen; born 21 July 1979) is a Danish former badminton player. Most notably, she won the All England Open Badminton Championships women's singles title three times in 2008, 2010, and 2013 – the last of these being her final tournament before retirement. Career summary Baun started playing badminton since she was 7 years old. She played at Lynge, a small club in North Zealand, Denmark. She said she really liked traveling around the world and learning other cultures through sports. Baun made her international debut in 1996 at the Denmark Open, and since finishing her last education in 1999, she started playing full time in badminton. Koo Kien Keat
Koo Kien Keat (; born 18 September 1985) is a Malaysian former professional badminton player. He succeeded in both men's and mixed doubles but is best known for his partnership with Tan Boon Heong with whom, he reached a career high ranking of world number 1. Career In 2004, he played in the Thomas Cup with Chew Choon Eng. They gave a strong performance during the second doubles match against Flandy Limpele and Eng Hian of Indonesia in the quarter finals. However, after the tournament, the Badminton Association of Malaysia decided to partner him with Chan Chong Ming who previously partnered Choon Eng. Later, they won the bronze medal at the 2005 World Championships. In 2006, Koo's coach, Rexy Mainaky, decided to paired him with the hard-hitting left-hander Tan Boon Heong. Hendra Setiawan
Hendra Setiawan (born 25 August 1984) is an Indonesian badminton player. He is an Olympic Games gold medalist, four-time World Champion, two-time Asian Games gold medalist, and two-time All England champion. With these achievements, Setiawan has collected all major individual titles in badminton. He is considered to be one of the greatest men's doubles players in badminton history. Setiawan was ranked first in the men's doubles with two different partners. Together with Markis Kido, he achieved the world no. 1 in September 2007, and with Mohammad Ahsan in November 2013. Markis Kido
Markis Kido (11 August 1984 – 14 June 2021) was an Indonesian badminton player and one of the world's leading in men's doubles discipline. He won the discipline's gold medal at the 2006 World Cup, 2007 World Championships, 2008 Olympic Games, 2009 Asia Championships, and 2010 Asian Games with Hendra Setiawan. Career In 2005, with Hendra Setiawan, he won the Asian Badminton Championships and the Indonesia Open. In 2006, the pair also won the Jakarta Satellite, the Hong Kong Open and the China Open after defeating Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng 21–16, 21–16 at the finals. Wang Xin (badminton)
Wang Xin (; born 10 November 1985) is a retired badminton player from China and former World No. 1 women's singles player. She was awarded as Best Female Players of the Year by the BWF in 2010. Wang represented China in the 2012 Summer Olympics and had to forfeit the match in the bronze medal playoff game against Saina Nehwal of India in which she was 21–18, 1–0 up, due to a knee injury. After the Olympics, Wang Xin struggled to get back into competition but was never successful due to the severity of her injury. Salakjit Ponsana ( th, สลักจิต พลสนะ; , born 14 February 1984) is a Thai retired badminton player. She competed in the women's singles event at the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympics. Her brother, Boonsak Ponsana is also a Thai olympian. Eriko Hirose
is a badminton player from Japan. Career She competed at the 2005 World Badminton Championships in Anaheim. In the women's singles event she reached the third round before losing to Wang Chen of Hong Kong. At the same year, she won the women's singles bronze medal at the Asian Championships after lose to her compatriot Kaori Mori in the semi final. In the 2010 BWF World Championship, she caused an upset over the world number one ranking player, Wang Yihan in the third round but lost to Wang Lin in the quarterfinals. In the 2011 All England Open, she came second in the women's singles, losing in the final to China's Wang Shixian. Saina Nehwal
Saina Nehwal (; born 17 March 1990) is an Indian professional badminton player. A former world no. 1, she has won 24 international titles, which includes ten Superseries titles. Although she reached the world's 2nd in 2009, it was only in 2015 that she was able to attain the world no. 1 ranking, thereby becoming the only female player from India and overall the second Indian player – after Prakash Padukone – to achieve this feat.
