2009 ISU World Team Trophy In Figure Skating
The 2009 ISU World Team Trophy was an international figure skating competition in the 2008–09 season. The six countries with the best results during the season – in descending order of finish: the United States, Canada, Japan, France, Russia and China – selected two men's single skaters, two ladies' single skaters, one pair, and one ice dancing entry to compete in a team format. The planned Olympic team event will have one entry per discipline. The country with the most points after all disciplines was awarded the trophy. The Japan Skating Federation (JSF) paid the prize money for the ISU World Team Trophy in 2009. Total prize money in 2009 was US$1,000,000, the highest ever at an ISU event. 2008–09 Figure Skating Season
The 2008–09 figure skating season began on July 1, 2008, and ended on June 30, 2009. During this season, elite skaters competed on the Championship level at the 2009 European, Four Continents, World Junior, and World Championships. They also competed in elite competitions such as the Grand Prix and Junior Grand Prix series. Takahiko Kozuka
is a former competitive Japanese figure skater. He is the 2011 World silver medalist, a two-time Grand Prix Final medalist, a two-time Four Continents medalist, and the 2010–11 Japanese national champion. He is also the 2006 World Junior champion and the 2005–06 JGP Final champion. Personal life Kozuka was born on February 27, 1989 in Nagoya, Japan. His father, Tsuguhiko Kozuka, competed in singles skating at the 1968 Olympics; his mother, Sachiko, competed in ice dancing; and his grandfather, Mitsuhiko Kozuka, was prominent in early Japanese skating. Cynthia Phaneuf
Cynthia Phaneuf (born January 16, 1988) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. She is the 2004 Four Continents silver medallist, 2004 Skate Canada International champion, 2004 Skate America silver medallist, a two-time (2004, 2011) Canadian national champion, and a four-time (2005, 2009, 2010, 2012) Canadian silver medallist. Alena Igorevna Leonova (russian: Алёна Игоревна Леонова; born 23 November 1990) is a retired Russian figure skater. is a retired Japanese figure skater. She is the 2007 and 2011 World champion, 2011 Four Continents champion, 2004 World Junior champion, and a three-time (2003, 2004 & 2010) Japanese national champion. Rachael Elizabeth Flatt (born July 21, 1992) is an American former competitive figure skater. She is the 2008 World Junior champion, a winner of four silver medals on the Grand Prix series, and the 2010 U.S. national champion.
