2009 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship
The 2009 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship was the 23rd edition of the FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship. The city of Kaunas, in Lithuania, hosted the tournament. Spain won their second title. Tauras Jogėla (born 2 May 1993) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for Soproni KC. Jogėla can play either Forward (basketball), forward position, although he's more accustomed to playing power forward. He won the Lithuanian Student Basketball League (MKL) Slam Dunk Contest in 2011. Jogėla averaged 14 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for Soproni KC during the 2019-20 season. He re-signed with the team on 26 July 2020. International career Jogėla won a silver medal with Lithuania men's national basketball team, Lithuania national basketball team at the 2009 Europe U-16 championship and was named the championship MVP. FIBA U16 European Championship
The FIBA U16 European Championship, previously known as the FIBA Europe Championship for Cadets, is a youth basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1971 edition. Through the 2003 edition, it was held every second year, but since the 2004 edition onward, it is held every year. It serves as the qualification tournament for the FIBA Under-17 World Cup in odd years, for the FIBA Europe region. The current champions are Lithuania. Kaunas Sports Hall
Kaunas Sports Hall ( lt, Kauno sporto halė), also known as the S. Darius and S. Girėnas Hall is the second largest arena of Kaunas, Lithuania. It is the first arena built in the residential Žaliakalnis neighbourhood of Kaunas specially for basketball in Europe and is referred to as a "''Mecca'' of the Lithuanian basketball". The arena's seating capacity is 5,000. Initial seating capacity was 3,500 and the other spectators (up to 11,000) used to have standing room. Its length is and its width is . It is a part of the S.
