2009 Cork Premier Intermediate Football Championship
The 2009 Cork Premier Intermediate Football Championship was the fourth staging of the Cork Premier Intermediate Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 2006. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place on 13 December 2008. The championship began on 1 April 2009 and ended on 18 October 2009. St. Finbarr's and Youghal left the championship after their respective promotion and relegation to different grades. Bantry Blues and Valley Rovers joined the championship. Killavullen were relegated from the championship after being beaten in a playoff by Mayfield. The final was played on 18 October 2009 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, between Valley Rovers and Clyda Rovers. Valley Rovers won the final by 0-07 to 0-05 to claim their first championship title in the grade and a second successive promotion. ''The Echo'', formerly known as the ''Evening Echo'', is an Irish morning newspaper based in Cork. Cork Intermediate Football Championship
The Cork Intermediate A Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as Bon Secours Cork County Intermediate A Football Championship and abbreviated to the Cork IAFC) is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the second tier intermediate clubs in the county of Cork in Ireland. It is the fourth tier overall in the entire Cork football championship system. The Cork Intermediate Championship was introduced in 1909 as a competition that would bridge the gap between the senior grade and the junior grade. At the time of its creation it was the second tier of Cork football. In its current format, the Cork Intermediate Championship begins in mid summer. The 16 participating club teams are drawn into four groups of four teams and play each other in a round-robin system. Newmarket GAA is a Gaelic football and Hurling club in Newmarket, County Cork, Ireland which is part of the parish of Newmarket, Taur.
