Football In Denmark
Association football is the most popular sport in Denmark, with 331,693 players and 1,647 clubs registered () under the Danish FA. The game was introduced into Denmark by British sailors. Kjøbenhavns Boldklub is the oldest club outside of the United Kingdom, having been founded on 26 April 1876. Denmark hosted the 1984 European Competition for Women's Football, the 1991 UEFA Women's Euro, the 2000 UEFA Cup Final, and the 2003 UEFA Women's Cup Final. Men's league system The Copenhagen Football Championship, known as Fodboldturneringen, was established in 1889 as the first domestic league by the Danish Football Association (DBU). Since its founding, many other regional leagues was founded in Denmark. A national league championship was first established in 1927 with the first season being held as 1927–28 Danmarksmesterskabsturneringen. Daniel Agger
Daniel Munthe Agger (; born 12 December 1984) is a Danish professional football coach and former player who is the head coach of Danish 1st Division club HB Køge. As an active player, he played as a central defender for Brøndby and Liverpool and captained the Denmark national team. Agger was described as "a fine reader of the game, comfortable on the ball and blessed with a ferocious shot". He was the 2007 and 2012 Danish Football Player of the Year. He started his senior career with Brøndby in July 2004, winning the Danish Superliga and the Danish Cup, before moving to Liverpool in January 2006. He made 175 Premier League appearances for the club (232 total) and won the League Cup and Community Shield. Thomas Rasmussen
Thomas Schultz Rasmussen (born 16 April 1977) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a left wingback. He played eight games for the Denmark national team, both as wingback and attacking midfielder. Career Born in Frederiksberg in Copenhagen, Rasmussen started his career in minor Danish club Glostrup IF 32. He debuted on the Danish under-19 national team in July 1996, and moved abroad to play for K. Sint-Truidense V.V. in Belgium. He returned to Denmark to play for an amateur club in Birkerød. FC Midtjylland
FC Midtjylland (, "Central Jutland") is a Danish professional football club based in Herning and Ikast in the western part of Jutland. The club is the result of a merger between Ikast FS and Herning Fremad. Midtjylland competes in the Danish Superliga, which they have won three times, most recently in 2020. Club history FC Midtjylland was founded by Johnny Rune, a carpenter and owner of a private business in the wood-supply industry, and Steen Hessel, an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer. Christopher Poulsen (born 11 September 1981) is a retired Danish professional Association football, footballer player who plays as Defender (association football), defender and current manager of Lemming IF. Michael Jakobsen (born 2 January 1986) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a defender for National Premier Leagues South Australia club Adelaide Olympic. He was named 2002 Danish ''Under-17 Player of the Year'', and has played five games for the Denmark national team. Club career B.93 and PSV Jakobsen started playing football with Boldklubben 1908 and Boldklubben af 1893 in the Danish 1st Division. AaB, (full name: ''Aalborg Boldspilklub'', ) internationally referred to as Aalborg BK, or sometimes also known as AaB Aalborg, is a professional football team located in Aalborg. Kasper Bøgelund Nielsen (born 8 October 1980) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a right-back. Bøgelund played 17 games for the Denmark national team, and he represented Denmark at the 2002 FIFA World Cup and 2004 European Championship. Per Billeskov Krøldrup (born 31 July 1979) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a defender. He has played 33 games for the Denmark national football team, and was part of their squad for the 2004 European Championship.
