The 2008–09 Women's CEV Cup was the 37th edition of the European Women's CEV Cup volleyball club tournament, the former Top Teams Cup. Women's CEV Cup
The Women's CEV Cup, formerly known as CEV Cup Winners' Cup (from 1972 to 2000) and CEV Top Teams Cup (from 2000 to 2007), is the second-top official competition for women's volleyball clubs of Europe and takes place every year. It is organized by the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV) and was created in 1972 as . Azerrail Baku
Azerrail Baku ('' az, Azərreyl Bakı'') is an Azerbaijani women's volleyball club based in Baku. Azerrail is a three-time champion of Azerbaijan Superleague and the winner of CEV Cup in 2002 and Challenge Cup in 2011. History Azerrail was founded in 2001 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Under the management of head coach Faig Garayev, Azerrail soon established itself as one of the top clubs in Europe. In 2002, Azerrail won CEV Cup after beating OK Jedinstvo Užice in the final. Azerrail also became the base club for the Azerbaijan national team, producing players such Natalya Mammadova, Valeriya Mammadova, Oksana Kurt, Yelena Parkhomenko and Polina Rahimova. The team continued to compete in European tournaments in the 2000s and 2010s. In 2011, Azerrail won the CEV Women's Challenge Cup after beating Lokomotiv Baku in the all Azerbaijani final. Damesvolleybalclub Tongeren is a Belgian women's volleyball team based in Tongeren. The club was founded in 1967, under the name Tovoc. After a merger with Hasselt, the club's name changed to Hatovoc. This team promoted for the first time to Ere Divisie Dames in 1985. The merger with Hasselt ended in 1990, and the name was again changed: Datovoc. Datovoc Tongeren has been present at the highest level of the Belgian volleyball league pyramid since 1985, no other team does better. After several national titles and cup wins, and to avoid financial trouble, Datovoc has changed their strategy and now mainly focusses on young, talented Belgian players.
