2008–09 Motherwell F.C. Season
The 2008–09 season was Motherwell's 11th season in the Scottish Premier League, and their 24th consecutive season in the top division of Scottish football. As well as the SPL, the club competed in the Scottish Cup, Scottish League Cup, and the UEFA Cup for the first time in 13 years. Season review On 10 July, Bob Malcolm signed a new one-year contract with the club. On 8 August, Motherwell announced the signing of Jim O'Brien to a two-year contract from Celtic, and the six-month loan signing of Gunnar Nielsen from Blackburn Rovers. On 19 August, Motherwell signed John Sutton to a three-year contract from Wycombe Wanderers. On 1 September, Motherwell signed Maroš Klimpl on loan from Midtjylland for five-months. On 2 January, Artur Krysiak joined Motherwell on loan from Birmingham City until the end of the season, whilst Maroš Klimpl extended his loan stay from Midtjylland until the summer. Motherwell F
Motherwell ( sco, Mitherwall, gd, Tobar na Màthar) is a town and former burgh in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, south east of Glasgow. It has a population of around 32,120. Historically in the parish of Dalziel and part of Lanarkshire, Motherwell is the headquarters for North Lanarkshire Council. Geographically the River Clyde separates Motherwell from Hamilton to the west whereas the South Calder Water separates Motherwell from Carfin to the north-east and New Stevenston and Bellshill towards the north. Motherwell is also geographically attached to Wishaw and the two towns form a large urban area in North Lanarkshire, with both towns having similar populations and strong community ties. Chris Porter (footballer, Born 1983)
Christopher John Porter (born 12 December 1983) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Oldham Athletic Porter began his career at Third Division side Bury, where he scored 20 goals in 78 appearances between 2003 and 2005. This prompted a move to League One club Oldham Athletic. He moved to the Scottish Premier League with Motherwell in 2007, before returning to England with Championship club Derby County. He dropped down a division in 2011, joining Sheffield United. With the Blades, he made over 100 appearances in 3½ years, scoring 23 goals. He had two short loan spells away from the club, playing for Shrewsbury Town and Chesterfield. He then joined Colchester United in January 2015, where he scored 30 goals in 95 appearances over 2½ seasons. Semih Aydilek
Semih Aydilek (born 16 January 1989) is a former professional footballer who played as a forward. Internationally, Aydilek represented Turkey, the country of his parents, at under-17 and under-18 level, but later chose to represent the country of his birth, and played for Germany at under-19 and under-20 level. Club career Birmingham Aydilek was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, to Turkish parents, and spent ten years in the youth system of home-town club Eintracht Frankfurt. While playing in a youth tournament in 2006, he was spotted by Terry Westley, youth academy manager at English club Birmingham City, who persuaded the player that a move to England would benefit his career. Cillian Sheridan
Cillian Sheridan (born 23 February 1989) is an Irish professional footballer who plays for Scottish Championship side Dundee. Sheridan began his career with Celtic in 2006, but a lack of first team opportunities saw him being loaned to other Scottish clubs. In 2010, he switched clubs and countries joining CSKA Sofia of Bulgaria, from where he was loaned to Scottish side St Johnstone in 2011. Dumbarton F
Dumbarton (; also sco, Dumbairton; ) is a town in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, on the north bank of the River Clyde where the River Leven flows into the Clyde estuary. In 2006, it had an estimated population of 19,990. Dumbarton was the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Strathclyde, and later the county town of Dunbartonshire. Dumbarton Castle, on top of Dumbarton Rock, dominates the area. Dumbarton was a Royal burgh between 1222 and 1975. Ross Forbes (born 3 March 1989) is a Scottish footballer, currently playing as a midfielder for Scottish League Two club Clyde. Career Motherwell Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Forbes began his football career with Motherwell. In the 2007–08 season, Forbes was an unused substitute on 23 April 2008 against Celtic and continued doing so the following season, as he appeared on the bench four more times. Artur Łukasz Krysiak (; born 11 August 1989) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Start Brzeziny. He previously played in the Scottish Premier League for Gretna and Motherwell and in the Football League for Swansea City, Burton Albion, Exeter City and Yeovil Town. FC Midtjylland (, "Central Jutland") is a Danish professional football club based in Herning and Ikast in the western part of Jutland. The club is the result of a merger between Ikast FS and Herning Fremad. Midtjylland competes in the Danish Superliga, which they have won three times, most recently in 2020. Maroš Klimpl (born 4 July 1980) is a Slovak professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for FK Kolín. Club career Born in Martin, Slovakia, back then still part of Czechoslovakia, Klimpl played with Dukla Banská Bystrica and MFK Ružomberok for 6 seasons in the Slovak top tier before moving to the Czech Republic during the winter break of the 2001–02 season to join FK Viktoria Žižkov.
