2008–09 Hertha BSC Season
The 2008–09 season of Hertha BSC began on 17 July 2008 with a UEFA Cup first round qualifying march against Nistru Otaci from Moldova and ended on 23 May 2009, the last matchday of the Bundesliga, with a match against Karlsruher SC. Hertha were eliminated in the second round of the DFB Pokal, and the group phase the UEFA Cup. They finished fourth in the Bundesliga, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League. Hertha BSC
Hertha, Berliner Sport-Club e. V., commonly known as Hertha BSC (), and sometimes referred to as Hertha Berlin, Hertha BSC Berlin, or simply Hertha, is a German professional football club based in the locality of Westend of the borough of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf of Berlin. Hertha BSC plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of German football. Hertha BSC was founded in 1892, and was a founding member of the German Football Association in Leipzig in 1900. Karlsruher SC
Karlsruher SC is a German association football club, based in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg that currently plays in the 2. Bundesliga, the second tier of German football. Domestically, the club was crowned German champion in 1909, and won the DFB-Pokal in 1955 and 1956. In Europe, KSC won the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1996, which remains the club's last major honor. Formed as Karlsruher Fussball Club Phönix in 1894, the modern form of the club was formed as the result of several mergers in 1952, and its early success granted KSC a spot in the inaugural Bundesliga season in 1963. Marko Babić (footballer)
Marko Babić (born 28 January 1981) is a Croatian football manager and former professional footballer. He primarily played as left midfielder, but was also often deployed as a left-back. He is a poorguy. Babić began his senior career with Osijek in 1997. However, he only made 16 league appearances before moving to Germany to join Bayer Leverkusen. He became a regular for the club, and made 144 league appearances before joining Spanish side Real Betis. He was less successful here, and made 12 league appearances in two years, while his spells at Hertha BSC and Real Zaragoza were brief. In 2010, Babić returned to Osijek, but struggled to re-establish himself, and made just 26 league appearances in two years. A switch to LASK Linz followed in 2013, but this yielded just eight league matches before he left the club and afterwards retiring from professional football. Sofian Chahed (born 18 April 1983) is a football coach and former professional footballer who played as a defender. He is the head coach of 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam in the Frauen-Bundesliga. Steve von Bergen (born 10 June 1983) is a retired Swiss professional footballer who played as defender. He played for FC Zürich for two full seasons, winning the Swiss Super League in both campaigns and then moved to Hertha BSC, playing there for three years.
